Location: Long Beach, CA I recently volunteered to foster a black and white Rat Terrier mix dog for Live Love Animal Rescue (run by a woman named Emily Haden who also pet-sits in my community). I was told that foster volunteers get first dibs on adopting the animals they foster out of their own homes. I fostered this dog, paid for her care using personal funds (while Emily Haden pocketed donations on this particular dog), and of course, I fell in love. When I asked to adopt her, Emily said she had a woman who would pay her $400 for this dog. Emily took this dog away from me and wouldn't give me a chance at adopting her. She technically sold this dog to the woman willing to pay her top price! I am at a loss for words and I want my foster dog back now! I worry about the welfare of this dog. I question Emily's judgement on simply placing this dog with "someone with money." Emily's recent adoptee was run over by a car and I can't let this happen to my foster dog. HORRIBLE.
