I entered into a contract with Lloyd Miller, Lloyd's Painting & Wallcovering, to paint the exterior doors, and other areas of our fifty-unit motel. He required a $1,500 upfront deposit, which I paid him.

After a five days of substandard work, ranging from two-to-six hours per day, he and his assistant abandoned the project. After several days of not appearing to continue work on the project,I contacted him several times. No answer, no reply.

In frustration I filed a small claims complaint against him. He actually appeared in court to answer the complaint arguing that ten-to-twelve hours of shoddy work and the purchase of a few cans of paint justified him keeping the $1,500 deposit.

The court's ruling reads in part: "Since Defendant breached the contract and did no work for which he is entitled to be compensated, Defendant must return the first payment made by Plaintiff". Needless to say, I have not seen a dime from him.

Beware of this man. He presents himself as a "professional painter" in his white painter coveralls professing over fifty years experience. Based on what little painting he did on my property, a chimpanzee could have done a better job!

Beware - History of shoddy work with numerous complaints filed against him according to the process server.
