Refusal to honor a refund request -
On April 14, 2003 I secured the services of Locator News to find an apartment. I was told that the refund policy states that if after 90 days I do not find an apartment

I am entitled to a refund of my $229.00 fee. I complied with all the stipulations, I went in to get an updated listing a least twice a week (I kept all copies of the listings). Ater the 90 days were over I still hadn't found a suitable place to rent so I mailed in my refund request along with a copy of my policy, address verification and was told I was ineligible
to receive a refund which is incorrect since I followed all the stipulations on the refund policy.

I have been told by many people that have used thier services that that is how the always do it. They never give a refund they just tell you that you can use their services indefinitely. I don't want their services. I want a refund of my fee as per their guarantee.

I have all the documents needed in my possesion.
I'm a single mom and I cannot afford to lose $229.00 for services that were not satisfactory so please if you need a rental do it with another company not this den of thieves.

Consumer is Entitled to a Refund and to Report

When a business advertises that they will refund your money and you follow the stipulations and they refuse to refund your money they are ripping off consumers and that's what these reports are for. I'm a former Army spouse who was sucked into their scheme for a nano-second before the Army personnel warned me of the potential rip-off and I cancelled the check (3 day out). If they are indeed a legitimate business then they would be issuing refunds when their service doesn't deliver. Consumers need to know when they don't deliver and they don't stand behind their service. Period.

I'm renting a room out myself, and they pester me continually for information and put it into their "database" anyway, without verifying that the information is accurate or not. They telemarket me to death over one room that is no longer available. Why? Because they need exciting listings, accurate or not. Your best bet is to find your own apartment, house, or room for rent and avoid such "services". With all those other places available for twice the price why would we think that the "five room house" is available for half the going rate? The simple answer is "It's not!"

If you "don't need them" why did you use them?

I am not understanding your complaint. If you didn't need them why did you contract them for their services in the first place? Is it possible that you could have found an apartment by yourself? Sure it is! That is exactly what you are going to do now, isn't it? It doesn't matter if you are a single mother, or not. No one can afford to throw that kind of money away. That is exactly what you did... You threw your money away, obviously not intending to like anything they helped you with in the fist place. Did they find you places to rent? Yes! Did you like any of them? I guess not. It is out of their power if someone looking to rent is too picky for the money that they want to pay in rent. That's your issue, not theirs. Get a grip and move on...Lesson learned.
