Complaint Review: Locksmith Service

I requested to have a locksmith open the front door for a residential property I own where the keys had been lost. When I spoke to the rep on the phone, I asked for an estimate, and they told me the technician would provided that once they got there to assess the situation. However, the pricing on the website stated that there was a $25 service fee, and the labor cost "started at" $35.

I met the technician at my property at the appointed time. I knew the tech was going to need to assess the situation, so I gave him a second to check out the lock while I was getting a few things out of my car. Litterally, in less than 5 minutes, he had the door open. I don't know how it would be physically possible to open the door any faster unless you actually had the key that goes with that lock.

So, I assumed the labor charge would be somewhere in the ball park of $35. So, imagine my shock when he told me the labor charge was $125. He said that he would help me out on the price by reducing the service charge down to $15 instead of the normal $25. So, for a service that I was expecting to cost me around $60, it ended up costing me $140.

The ONLY reason I reluctantly paid the bill was because I am a small business owner, and I was tight on time. So, in order to fight this charge at that moment would have taken up a lot of my time that I didn't have. And, would have cost me more money than what it was worth. However, I still didn't appreciate being flat out robbed!

I have never filed a rip off report before, and I have experienced some extremely poor service from time to time throughout my life. But, I truly felt that I need to try and do something to prevent someone else from being taken advantage of by this company. I hope that this report actually makes a difference.
