Logitech Warranty not honored due to "unauthorized reseller from Amazon." Internet

This is regarding amazon.com order #106-5418742-6535460, a purchase of a Logitech G710+ Mechanical Gaming Keyboard from amazon.com, the affiliate store Outlet Digital.

In short, Logitech will not honor the three-year warranty of this product because I "purchased it from unauthorized reseller from Amazon." Furthermore, given all of Amazon's guarantee policies preclude response after ninety days, amazon is not able to respond to failures of long-lasting products when manufacturer warranties are not honored.

BACKGROUND: The Logitech G710+, being a mechanical keyboard is supposed to have a long product lifespan and is normally warrantied for three years. In the case of my unit key-caps would keep breaking off this keyboard. Logitech does not sell replacement keys for the G710+. The only redress they offer is use of the warranty and replacement of the entire keyboard.

A similar key-cap failure can be seen here (only regarding the ctrl-key. I lost three others as well.)

In the case of my unit, I received the reply "This is in regards to your G710+ Mechanical Gaming Keyboard that we regret to inform you that we can not process the replacement becaues (sic) you purchased it from unauthorized reseller from Amazon."

Amazon customers cannot trust Amazon affiliates regarding large ticket items (large ticket for me -- replacement of this keyboard would be a financial hardship) given that parameters of warranties seem to be contingent on whether or not a reseller is "authorized" by the manufacturer in question (in this case, Logitech). Are consumers going to contact product manufacturers before every purchase to make sure expressed warranties actually in place? I do not believe so. I believe this demands an unreasonable degree of vigilance on behalf of the customer.

A good point, but not vindicating Logitech.

I agree that this may be an issue with Amazon affiliated vendors being potentially gray-market. Amazon certainly tries to present the notion that its vendors are legitimate and subsidiary to Amazon, and not out-of-garage private vendors as I'd expect (for instance) from eBay.

As I said, the necessity of having to research the relationship between any given vender and a manufacturer is an unfair burden on the customer, especially if, when shopping, I cannot parse out legitimate venders from illegitimate ones using the Amazon search features. Not that it's criminal, but it will certainly give me pause before shopping at Amazon, considering I have to take the additional step of making sure I am actually shopping at Amazon.

I've been curious if I am allowed to file an additional report regarding Amazon's missteps in this case. I'm new to ROR and want my claim to be taken seriously, and couldn't find what the proper protocol is here. Yes, I tried to resolve this issue through the guarantees offered by Amazon regarding its affiliates, and was able to verify that through secondary cirumstances each guarantee wasn't applicable even though agents of Amazon had assured me otherwise. Ultimately they told me to report their own affiliate to the FBI cyberfraud division. A curious step of averting responsibility.

But Logitech is still taking an unreasonable approach by "unauthorizing" vendors, whether or not this legal strategem is typical amongst tech hardware suppliers. I could understand if my unit was determined to be counterfeit or a refurbished unit, and thus the warranty was void. Then the issue would be entirely with the vendor misrepresenting the product. But that is not what Logitech told me. So I have no other recourse than to challenge that Logitech's policy.

Actually, every single manufacturer out there has a policy of not warrantying grey market purchases, such as the one you made from some shady vendor.  It's not just Logitech.  If you buy from an Amazon vendor, it's pretty much the same thing as buying from some guy in a gas station parking lot.  In fact, almost all Amazon vendors sell counterfeit or stolen merchandise, and your keyboard may not have even been made by Logitech, or may have been stolen or otherwise misappropriated.  So next time, don't buy from a shady vendor and pay the extra $2.00 and get it from Amazon instead of a vendor.

Um...you don't like internet commerce.

So you don't like internet commerce. Okay. That doesn't have much to do with my complaint, as the issue with an "unauthorized reseller" could happen with any brick-and-mortar store as well.

Do you own the product? Are you an agent or representative of Logitech? If neither of these, why are you ranting on my report? Do you feel it's your duty to go around and berate customers of the web-market for their choice to make purchases online? I don't understand.

Kensington takes their long-term warranties rather seriously. If my mouse fails for any reason and I cannot set it right on my own they'll replace the unit, and I've done this with several of their products. And I know that Logitech honors their warranties, just not in this specific case with this specific keyboard. As a curious fact, the agent with whom I spoke misremembered the duration of the warranty (as one year, rather than the stated three).

But a failure to acknowledge a manufacturer warranty because a unit was purchased online is ridiculous, nor is it the stated policy of Logitech.

Sorry to say this but THIS is on YOU the consumer!!! YOU chose of your own free will to make a purchase and you chose to go with the cheapest option. Hence WHY you went with Amazon. This is just one of the perils of online shopping. Had you made this purchase in a PHYSICAL store, the warranty would have been honored, but you CHOSE to make this a online purchase so YOU get to deal with purchasing yourself a new keyboard. Does it suck?? YEP!!!!!! But it IS the cost of doing your business online!!! When you purchase something online, YOU the consumer are NOT actually buying a item. YOU are buying a picture on the screen and you TRUST that you will receive a good product with zero defects. While the lower price of online shopping IS appealing, the perils of online shopping make that lower price a joke. YOU the consumer are putting too much trust in online purchases then you wonder why you get screwed over. I do MY research as well and I have found that the BEST warrant is NOT from a manufacturer.

I make MY purchases at (((REDACTED))) because THEY have a in store accidental damages warranty that covers EVERYTHING up to and including my dog getting a hold of my keyboard. Also let me give you a tad bit of information. What YOU are trying to do is redeem a MANUFACTURERS warranty, a manufacturers warranty ONLY covers the QUALITY of the build and NOT normal wear and tear that YOU the consumer have put on the item. Unless the keys broke off when you FIRST started using it, THEY are NOT going to cover anything. A manufacturers warranty also requires that the manufacturer agrees that the failure is on THEIR part and in almost 45 years I have NEVER seen a manufacturer agree that it is THEIR fault. I agree that this issue sucks for you, but it IS the product of YOUR choices and YOUR use of the keyboard that has caused this. I suggest that you go to (((REDACTED))) and make your purchase THERE!!!!! At least that way if anything happens to it, you can walk in and have a new keyboard in about 5 mins with the ONLY cost being if you want a new warranty on the new keyboard. They are going to give you a new keyboard each time for the cost of the warranty.
