We booked a family vacation through Lonesome Paws Cabins. We rented R&R River Retreat. The house was filthy. Cobwebs everywhere. Dirty dishes put away in the cabinets. Threadbare, dirty linens. Used soap in the bathrooms. All the games were missing pieces and were unplayable. The downstairs smoke detector was ripped off the ceiling. The downstairs bathroom sink was not attached to the wall and could have easily been pulled down on top of a child causung injury.Only one TV was hooked up to sattalite. The road that the house is on is gravel and straight down. We were not told we needed a 4X4 and did damage to all of our vehicles. The "card" you need to access the pools, etc was expired and we waited an entire day for Lonesome Paws to bring a current one. There was no river access.

Success is professionalism with researched facts. I am not Glynda Blanton. Glynda Blanton never spoke with your husband at this home. Glynda Blanton nor anyone else has tried to dispute the amount of the hot tub cover. There were 4 children under the age of 10 staying at the cabin and even with the 5 adults staying there monitering them it is possible that they sat on the cover. It is unimaginable that a child could sit on it and "annihilated" or destroyed completly. In fact when we replaced the cover when we left, it looked just fine. We were never sent pictures of what it looked like but you WERE reimbursed for it. Everything in my report was the truth. I did fail to mention in my first report that the downstairs shower/bath faucet did not work either.

As to to comment about access to the river,I have included both definitions of access and frontage for your future reference. Access-ability to enter. Frontage-a piece of land that lays adjacent to a road, or water. Based on the discription of the property, we had envisioned sitting in the river reading and watching the kids play. There is no access to even try to get in the river and it seems fairly deep on the entire frontage. It was also disappointing that we were not made aware of the campground accross the river. I have nothing against campgrounds but there was a lot of activity and the noise level carried across the river.

As to the defamation suit, Glynda Blanton has played no part in this commentary, however, you have listed numerous derogatory comments about her. I find it humorous that you have included all of the emails prior to our actual stay at the home and none of your highly emotional outbursts after the problems were brought to your attention. After this and several other websites, including The Better Business Bureau have posted compliants against this company (Lonesome Paws Cabins), I will continue to excerise my right to free speech...

Success starts with professionalism and researched facts. I am not Glynda Blanton. R & R River retreat was filthy. Everything stated in my report is the truth. Not so in yours. I am the one that spoke with your husband outside of the home while everyone was trying to get cars and trucks out of the road. Our family that stayed at this home were all over 40 years old with the exception of 4 children under the age of 10 that were well supervised at all times. I did not mention one thing about the downstairs and that is the shower/bath did not work. As to the access of the river, I have included the definitions of both "access" and "frontage" so you will better understand the difference. Access: Permission, liberty, or, ability to enter. Frontage: a piece of land that lies adjacent(as to a street, ocean, or, river). This home has did have plenty of river frontage, but, no river access. Also, as to the defamation suit against Glynda Blanton- I wouldn't be surprised if she filed a counter suit against you for the same thing since she had nothing to do with this. I am an American citizen and am able to have free speech. I have said my piece and will comment no further in this matter except to say that you have alot of excuses for the several negative reports that have been filed against your company including this website, The Better Business Bureau, and others.God bless you and good luck in the future.

Customer Comments about Our Cabin

Amazing Cabin!!!, May 6, 2009
By Lisa (Mims, FL)
Great vacation get away!!! We had a big group and this cabin was just the right size. Big living room with comfy sofas an open kitchen area and a great dining room. Having five bedrooms was great! Even more amazing was the outdoor living space where we spent most of our time. The first night there we had to try out the outdoor fireplace and mix up some margaritas. The kids loved the game room downstairs and we all enjoyed the hot tub. We saw deer everynight from the balcony and throughout the community. There was also lots to do nearby. We went to the falls, on a train ride, and antique shopping. We went fishing in the community lakes and checked out the swimming pool, parks and game room. Everyone in the group had a great time!!! I would definitely recommend this cabin for your next vacation!!!

Big Cabin perfect for our Big Group, March 10, 2009
By Mary Beth Tyler (Atlanta)
Thanks to the Lonesome Paws team for helping us plan a mountain getaway. Once we found the cabin (which did take a while even with their great instructions - definitely arrive during the day), we couldn't have been happier. We had a group of 14, and everyone had so much fun. It was perfect for 2 nights to relax & unwind. We loved the porch space and spent most of our time outside there catching up with old friends. The kitchen was perfect for staying in and having a big group dinner. Thanks!

Response to Complaint by Glynda Blanton, Kennesaw Georgia

#7REBUTTAL Owner of company

Tue, June 30, 2009

I am the owner of Lonesome Paws Cabin Rental. A defamation suit is being filed in Gilmer County against the author of this complaint.

The cabin R and R River Retreat is located on 319 feet of river frontage and can be seen on our web site at www.lonesomepaws.com under R and R River Retreat.

The problems with this client began when we emailed to let them know that someone from their group broke the hot tub lid in several places and that it would have to be replaced. The response from the renter was that they had damaged their car and could I give them my liability insurance number so they could report a claim. Since I was not driving the vehicle that supposidly sustained damaged I did not give them this information. The next emails contained complaints about everything under the sun. It was very obvious to me that the renter was trying to bargain their "complaints" against the replacement of the hot tub cover.

The lastest from them is that there was no river access? What a hoot, how they were unable to find their way to the river with 319 feet of frontage is beyond me.

Our custom is to check on each renter upon their arrival. Since this group came in and called us for a vet number when they arrived they were asked how everything was to which they replied "wonderful". I wish I could attached pictures of the hot tub lid- it was not just broken but annihilated.

This statement is from my husband who owns the company with me:

To whom it may concern,
I drove out to R & R River Retreat to deliver the new Guest Pass on Thursday June 25, 2009.
I explained to Glynda and her husband that the resort had been accepting the old Guest passes because the new passes were not printed on time. The new Guest Passes came out while they were staying at the cabin. After receiving this news we promptly went to the POA and acquired the new Guest Passes for all our cabins and I personally gave Glynda the new pass. Both Glynda and her husband acknowledged they understood the problem and thanked me for delivering the new one.
During my conversation with them I asked not just once, but twice if there was anything wrong with the cabin. They both responded both times that the cabin was not only acceptable but great.
Also during this conversation I asked them if they had any problem with the gravel road that comes down to the cabin. I told them that the group before them drove half way up the 30 degree gravel incline and stopped. We all laughed because they expected to continue up the hill without spinning their wheels.
On this particular day I was driving my PT Cruiser, a show car with seven trophies to prove it down to R & R as I frequently do. If this road, which is owned and maintained by the resort, was a threat to the finish on my car I would have used my truck instead!
In summation, when directly asked if there was ANYTHING WRONG with the cabin or road to it, both Glynda and her husband replied that EVERYTHING was great. The only question Glynda had for me was, How deep is the river?
As per the contract, to receive a refund of any kind we must be notified when the problem becomes apparent in order to give us a chance to correct it. Once the problem with the Guest Pass was brought to light, it was promptly taken of. All other accusations were made after we discovered a broken lid on the hot tub ($400) the day they departed. These accusations were also made after they demonstrated their driving skills on a public road and put a dent in the car.

Also from our faq:
If you have any problems at the house you MUST report it to the phone number provided above the day you ARRIVE. Please do not call or email us two weeks after you check out asking us for a refund because there was an issue that needed to be addressed. ALL cabins are inspected before your arrival but if something is amiss, PLEASE let us know!

also this is my email exchange with this renter, I do not think better customer service could have been given:

Julee - I am the renter of the River Retreat for June 20 - 27 (checking out on 27th). I have a few questions. One concerning the barbeque grill. Is there one and is it gas or charcoal.

How many people can we have before I go over my limit. I ask this because we have 4 adults and 2 children (and my dog Zorro) who will be coming up on the 20th. And probably on the 20th we also have one more adult and 2 children coming up for 4 or so days. Then another adult is coming up I think on Sunday late and staying a couple of days. Then my nephew who is 20 is taking summer courses and working part time but may come up and stay Sunday night, leave Monday and come back Wednesday night to spend Thursday and maybe Thursday night. Then we may have some of my family (Sisters and Mom) coming up just for a day to sit by the river.

I know that is way too much information but I am just trying to find out how we need to handle all of this to be sure they have access to get into the gate.

Also, what time is check in on Saturday?

I am sure you will be sending me all this information but we are so excited and trying to get everything planned.

Thanks so much,

Glynda

Wow Glynda. Hummmmmmm.
The easiest thing for me to do would be to have a list from you-
Day One (20th) 4 adults one dog
Day Two 21st 8 adults
Then if you can give me what you have paid so we can match the figures-
Paid $500.00 initial deposit etc. so we can figure out where we are that would be great.
It sounds like ALL the people that are coming will need to be on the guest pass for the whole week to avoid confusion with the gates. You will pay for only the days the people are in the cabin. The clean fee will adjust as well depending on how many total people there are.
Hope this made sense??

Thanks Julee - I am working on the list. As usual, some are backing out. What is my deadline for the list. Can you answer the following questions:

1. What time can we check in on Saturday - can you tell we are excited
2. Does the grill take charcoal or propane
3. Coffee Maker take round or triangle filters.

I know, silly questions but we need to buy charcoal and right size filters.

Hope I don't drive you crazy.

Thanks, Glynda

Hi Glynda

I would love to have the final list by Monday?

Lets see, the house has a charcoal grill, I am almost positive the filters are round (about 80% sure) and if I do not have a guest in just before you, you can have early check in, I will not know until next week. Otherwise, check in is at 3 PM.

Hi Glynda

I did not realize there would be so many day guests on Tuesday. Since they have to go on the gate pass to get into the resort, there will be a $10.00 charge for each of them for the day. I will figure all of this out and email you tomorrow to let you know the total. I am hoping the folks that are coming in to visit you are helping you to foot some of the bill? We do not differentiate between day guests or night guests as the houses are used the same- day people use the hot tubs, flush the toilets, make coffee, etc. the same as someone that spends the night so we charge them the same.

I will email tomorrow. Thanks!

I am not sure that A, S & F will be coming. Also Z and N will be coming on Wednesday morning, not Tuesday night and they will probably leave Thursday night, not Friday morning. I didn't realize it would be so much for the day guests.

Do I receive a packet from you telling me where to go or do we check in?

Thanks, Glynda

Subject: RE:

Hi Glynda

I'm sorry this is such a hassle. I have to put people on a gate pass- this means it will say that so and so will be in x day to x day. After that day, they will not be able to come in so I need to know for sure what everyone is doing. These gate passes go to the owners of the homes- so they know who was in their homes and which days they were in. If there is not a charge for a person for a day then it comes out of our pockets as we have to account and pay for them. I rarely have this many different people coming and going- I do get one group comes for four days and the other stays the whole time, but your group is all coming and going so it is going to be hard for me to track. I just cannot afford to be billed for your extra people, I'm sorry, but I don't own these homes, I just manage them. I try to say on the rates page and also on the contract that the gates are strict and I have to account for people.
They ask for the gate passes one week in advance of peoples stay. This means I really need to get this in tomorrow for things to go smoothly. Once I fax it all in, then it is very hard to track down the first pass and change things. Which is why we allow people to give us the final count a week before their stay and then we charge $10.00 for every change we have to make. Changing the gate pass normally involves me driving to the Gate Office to pull the gate pass and submitting a new one- it is a 10 mile round trip for me to do this.

So. In a nutshell, if you can ask your friends and relatives if they are coming, collect their money from them, make sure we have them on the gate pass for the dates they will be in and then if they decide not to come, you are not holding the bag on it and nor am I, that would be great. A last minute so and so is coming in is extremely hard for me to do during season. I cover all of this on our site at:

www.lonesomepaws.com/rates.html It talks in length about the gates.

Once I have the final count I will do the gate pass (tomorrow) and email it to you so you can look it over and let me know that it is correct. At that time,I will fax it to the gates and that will be set. Then I will email directions, lock box codes, resort hours of operation etc. for your stay. Thanks!

No need to apologize. I have been in commercial property management most of my career. Its a pain in the butt. My niece A and her two girls are in Florida and they are the ones I am not sure if they are coming but I have left her a message to call me back. And you do have everything posted on your web site and I am the one that should apologize. If I have not heard from her within the next hour or so I will just include them anyway. But for sure Z and N will be there on Wednesday morning early and leave late Thursday evening. Sorry for the confusion. Don't you just sometime want to disown your family.

Glynda-

So please look for my book, due out sometime in the future entitled It's Always Something. I'm joking that I am going to write that- my job is extremely interesting and certainly keeps me on my toes! Lover the years I have had many many terrific families that have come together and made some great memories. I am so family oriented that I LOVE that people do this (we also had a piata that we MADE my father go first on- he is 78). This will all come together- I will send you the faq along with this email as it will have information you may want to pass along to family members. I suggest when we get all the information together you have EVERYONE read it so they know what they are doing.

Hopefully you will have time to eat bon bons on the couch and drink pina colada's at the riverhappy planning and thanks for understanding!!!

PS You may want to read the FAQ on the Internet at our site as well. I try very hard to see that folks are as well informed and prepared as they can possibly be before they come in. That along with this rules of the road should have a lot of information to prepare you. Thanks again!

Here is what I came up with Glynda-

Glynda, D, M, R- all week for the four people included in the rate
C- 6 nights- 6 extra people charges
Mall week, no charge
K in for 4 nights- 4 extra people charges
M in for four nights- 4 extra people charges
B- no charge
Tuesday day guests ONLY of G, R, J, D, A, F and S- one day only (24 hour period) 7 people, 7 extra people charges
Z 2 nights- 2 extra people charges
N- 2 nights- 2 extra people charges

Total Extra People Charges- 25 extra people charges
Clean Fee for the 11 people that will stay over night.

Rental Rate for Week: $900.00
Extra People Charges $250.00
Tax on above (12%) 172.50
Pet Fee $25.00 (one dog named Zorro)
Clean Fee $175.00
Resort Fee $25.00
Total $1547.50
Paid -500.00
Balance Due $1047.50

Glynda- can you look at the gate pass and make sure we have everyone on it and confirm the rate above so I can run the balance on your card? The children do NOT need to be on the gate pass (unless you plan on letting them drive your cars- not recommended in the mountains )

Thanks!!

Julee

The only thing I see is that Z and N are coming in Wed morning and leaving Thursday night but that is two days so I guess the charge is the same anyway. So it looks fine to me.

My new rule on driving my vehicles is you have to be 40 years old. It works much better and keeps the teenagers from asking to drive my car. They can drive you nuts over wanting to drive. Especially if you have a 350Z Convertible which I finally traded in on a truck just to keep them from asking so much and you know not one of them has asked to drive my truck. Amazing isn't it.

Well, its getting closer and we are so excited.

Hi Glynda

Yes you can check in early. YEEEHAW!

Julee - first off I apologize for this email. My sister, D G, called and wants to know if my brother-in-law can come up on Tuesday. He had not wanted to come because he simply was not able - he is handicapped. But he thinks he will be able to come. She is on the gate pass and will be driving. Does he also need to be on the gate pass and is it too late. If it is, I understand. When it comes time he may not be able to come anyway.

Thanks so much, Glynda

Hi Glynda

Your vacation is going to be the bomb if it is the last thing I do!!!! If you can send me his name, I will add him to the list. I can send you the updated pass which you will NOT NEED at the gate as the passes are only so you have proof that I sent the info in- the names are on the central computer system at the gates so I will email my friend that works there and add your name.

You will not need a new gate pass- he will be on the gates as soon as I get his name- just come with what you have. Thanks!!

His name is F G

And thank you soooo much. As I said he may not come because his health is very bad but hopefully he will be able to.

Just know that I will ALWAYS recommend you.

Thanks again, Glynda

So, thanks a bunch Glynda. I bent over backwards for you and even did a few flips. There was nothing I could have done to make this customer happy. We have had hundreds of rentals so far this year- I guess you cannot make some people happy- especially when they break a hot tub lid and do not want to pay for it. Feel free to email me for pictures of the hot tub lid. Actually I think I will put it up on my web site so people know how NOT to treat someone else's house-
