I personally am not a fan and do not support the practices of LAFS, Los Angeles Film School. I went there and they do try and teach you but the courses repeat after a 6 month period. I am not at all surprised they were sued. I only hope that fellow students were paid because in my experience the Cinematography and Editing teachers (no names) were the only professionals at the school. I started in March - April class of 2008 and I'm blessed with the connections I made as far as the friends I made in school. I honestly learn more from them than I did in the school. Before you consider going to film school, do this, use Craigslist to find a gig, expect to do you first one free, apply in the department you want to work in. Want to be a producer, be a P.A., want to be a Director, work in production management,  want to work as DP, start as a grip or somewhere with camera crew and so on. Film is a learn on the job gig forget any notion that school will help. Instead of blowing money needlessly down a black hole, use it to buy gear. I feel like LAFS robbed me of my first really nice camera. That's what I could of bought had I not gone there.
