be extremely careful when dealing with your local retailers as the los angeles times has vendors stationed at local grocery stores looking to prey on you!  my wife signed up for e-coupons for vons. she was told that she was also entered into a drawing of some sort. she was under the impression  that this was a von's promotion, but it turned out to be a vendor working to gather information and sell us the newspaper.  she was not told that she would be signed up for the paper, nor were we interested. we were not contacted at any point to confirm that this was happening.  when my wife called to cancel service, she was told that it would be taken care of. i called two weeks later to find out that the service cancellation request was placed for two months later.  in the meantime the newspaper has already drawn funds from our account and we will now have to track to make sure that we receive a refund. these deceptive practices need to be stopped, so be extremely careful even when dealing with local retailers you frequent regularly as these sharks are getting better and better each day.  i am thoroughly disgusted and hope that the los angeles times take a better approach at attracting new readers instead of trying to shove it down our throats!
