Sadly this company has a pretty believable web site and they tend to hire real recruiters. In other words it's pretty easy to fall for this.

The scam. They will charge you $1000 to start a wedding / events consulting "business". The fee is for training which consists of a month-long Internet class or a two-day seminar. You get a binder, a CD, etc. Then you are supposed to get leads/brides from hits off their website. This is where it falls apart. The leads never come. There are also not enough affliated vendors to sell their services to your brides. Then when you do plan a wedding the company gets paid directly and you get a percentage... in theory. In reality you'll get a few leads here and there, little if any payment on sales, and lots of excuses. I lost money on this deal as did every other consultant I spoke with (there was a bit of a mutiny). They still owe me money!!!

My advice. If you want to be a wedding cosultant go to your local community college. Pay a fraction of what these theives charge and get certified. Then go work with an established wedding consultant, church, or reception hall. Your money will go a lot further this way.

We are sorry your experience with Lovegevity was not a fruitful one, as we have hundreds of consultants (stay at home moms and the like) who have successfully implemented our information and program to launch their own Wedding Planning Business.

When starting a business, as any professional will tell you, the results will vary depending on the person running the business, the market they live in and the effort that is put forth. Our training and educational program is the first step for an individual looking to get into a career as a wedding planner. Our program covers everything on the wedding planning side of bridal consulting, as well as running the business. Wedding planners are independent business owners; wedding planners are hired by the bride and groom to plan, design, coordinate and direct the wedding day activities. The program provides a comprehensive overview of business in the wedding industry and the marketing that is required to get a new wedding planning business on the map. Many individuals truly understand what it takes to create a successful planning business and some find they are not cut out to be a business owner due to the investment of time and money.

Once a student has graduated from our training program they have an opportunity to co-brand their business with Lovegevity. This is an option not a requirement. Lovegevity screens all applicants to find individuals with the aspiration to run and own their own business and who have the desire, education and background necessary to conduct business professionally. While in the program assignments walk through the process of meeting with local vendors and our online program offers the chance to work with brides. This is an option, if the student is not ready to work with brides that is their choice.

What the company promises to new students is the support to launch their business once graduated and yes, leads from our website. Students are told upfront they will need to market themselves and utilize other sources for additional leads in their area, such as local bridal shows. Vendor relationships to support a new planner's business need to be developed by the consultant in the local market. We have many markets with existing vendors, however new markets will start from scratch. The business is based on building strong partnerships with local vendors and to help in the selection and booking process a bride must go through. Consultants are paid by their vendors based on the amount that is booked with a bride-to-be. It is extremely important that a consultant meets with and gets to know her vendors so that she can determine which vendors she will use in building a quality business. Lovegevity does not force a consultant to use an existing vendor and allows the consultant to make the best decision for her business. She is there to find the right quality vendor for her client. Lovegevity makes no guarantees as to the success of each student, as each person is responsible for building their business. Lovegevity provides the training, education and information that is needed to get started.
