Lowe's Canada Price Gouging. A massive discrepency between USA and Canadian Pricing on some items Lethbridge, Alberta Nationwide

I usually don't make an issue of things, but this one really got my back up. I am doing a project where I needed screws to install some Durock cement backer board onto a plywood counter, to accept some new ceramic tiles. I checked to see what the price was for the specialty screws needed to complete the project. I looked up Lowes, and they were $7.57 for a 200 count. I then realized that I was on the Lowe's.com USA site and not the Lowe's.ca Canadian site.

I searched to the Canadian site to find that they were $13.99. Now even with the Canadian dollar being down, the price was a little high... and then I kept on reading. THIS WAS FOR A 100 COUNT! So to get the same amount of screws that were $7.57 in USA funds, It woud have cost me $27.98 Canadian. I didn't buy them because, if you'll excuse the pun... I didn't want to get screwed! Price gouging to Canadians... there's no other explaination. I'll buy somewhere else.. thanks.

"In Need Of Anger Management?"

I read your rebuttal, and I thought at first that you were trying to be informative and had some knowledge about tarrifs and how internation trade works between neighbouring countries. When I did my research I found that you had very little if any knowledge on NAFTA or any other agreements made between the United States and Canada. Even with that I was OK with what you were trying to get across. Then your tone changed from being informative... to just plain ignorant.

When I wrote my report, I never for a split second thought anyone in their right mind would take this on a personal level. However you did. I was ready to gladly supply you with whatever references you required, but I don't want to waste my time and energy knowing that I'm dealing with a "MORON" who has some really bad anger management issues and should probably be looking for professional help.

Sorry but your situation is EASILY explained. Its called passing the cost of doing business on to the customer. There are added fees called TARRIFFS on ALL products going from one country to the next. A tarriff is a TAX that is levvied against the product by the incoming country. So YOUR complaint is caused by YOUR country. Lowes MUST pass those extra costs onto the very same ppl buying it because its NOT fair to have THEM pay ALL of the taxes and let YOU the customer skate with a lower priced item. But ppl like YOU have been spoiled by the world market that the web gives. So to YOU the cheapskate, understand that its NOT intentional price gouging. YOU want those items IMMEDIATLY and THIS is the cost of having it there at your IMMEDIATE disposal.

Were the two items the IDENTICAL item(except for the qty of course).  That is same Manufacturer, same size, same style.

If not(which I suspect), then there may be other reasons that Canadian sites can't sell the same thing as US sites such as certain Government regulation.

How about posting the link to the two?
