I see from other reports that customers who complain to the HQ of Lowe's get no reply.

This also happened to me.

It is a small matter but it shows how they just don't care what customers have to say.

I was doing some yard work and needed dirt to put down to plant new grass seed on. I purchased 3 bags of their 98 cent a bag dirt. I slit open the bags and dumped the dirt on the spot where I was doing the work.

This 'dirt' was full of stones, pieces of charred wood and bits of branches and wood. This stuff was useless for planting anything in. You might use it for fill around a foundation but that is all you could do with it. I ended up having to rake the crap out of the dirt and toss it in the trash, that left me with very little dirt. I went to Wally World and got 2 bags of their dirt to put down with the approx. one bag worth of dirt from Lowe's.

I sorted out a selection of this junk, put it into a plastic envelope, put that and a letter of complaint into a box and sent it off to this Jerk "Tillman" who is the CEO. I don't expect that he would ever see the complaint but you would think that the C.S. people would at least respond.

I got absolutely NO reply.

Clearly this outfit doesn't care whether people shop there or go to Wal Mart or Home Depot for their Garden items. Incidently, both the mentioned stores are within a mile of this Lowe's on the same major highway, so you would not have to shop at Lowe's and now I DO NOT shop there.

First off, i am a landscape designer/contractor who loves lowes and their product, but shop at Home Depot just as much. That said... You do realize the bag of soil was 98 cents right, and the cost to ship your box of "rocks, sticks... etc" was at least double? And it clearly states on the bag that is a Top Soil BLEND!!! Top soils are used to fill holes, if you were indeed planting seed, you needed to buy the turf starter soil. Top soils simply what the bag says, a TOP SOIL. not a planting mix. Lowes carries about 20 different soils; everything from potting mixes to TURF STARTERS. "Thrifty" customers such as yourself complain just to get something free for nothing. I'm sure Home Depot would love your business, and Lowes wont miss its 98 cent complaints.

take the bag to the return desk

I am not sure why you are writing the HQ.
Why dont you do the easy thing and take the bag to the return desk and the will give you money back or a new bag of soil? Sounds simple to me. I am not sure if your mad that you would have to go back to the store or the you feel that you deserve something more than your money back?? They would probably would have given you and extra bag of soil if you had taken to the return desk I see it all the time. Always trying to make the customer happy. People like you don't make any sense to get mad over soil and go strait to HQ. just take the correct steps. People like you make consumer prices go up becuse you feel that the company should give you something for nothing.
