I was an installer for lowes home improvement.

i installed doors,storm doors,air conditioners,storage buildings,mini-blinds,security doors,and mail box's.

After i started my contract with Lowes i was initially given "clean-up work just to test my abilities".

I was advised i would be paid in 4 weeks for clean-up work (cleaning up another installers mistake". I proceded with my normal contract installing their products.

I noticed my checks were being shorted and I still had'nt recieved money for clean-up work that had accumulated to a total of 3000.00 then a year later 6000.00.

I made requests weekly to have someone check into this to no avail. Finally a year later, my Uncle who helped me get started with them was tired of hearing my excuses about the delay in payment. he didn't beleive me, so he kicked my family /5 kids and wife out of his rental house.

To make matters worse when i parked our house (station wagon) on Lowes property to ask them where my money was, an employee called dept. of human services and filed a report on us. I was the bad guy.

I called the home office to get my money and the mgr.at the store in madison,tn. terminated my contract. They washed their hands of me and did'nt care at all.

Lowes doesn't retain incompetent people

I remember having to deal with contractors before Lowes came into the picture years ago. These people would forget to call you back, take their time, do sloppy work, overcharge, blame other people for their problems, come to the job site high on drugs or alcohol, etc.

Ever since Lowes came into the market and has clamped down on incompetent contractors, things have changed dramatically. These contractors are held to a higher degree of conduct and as such perform far better than when they ran chaotic businesses. I would never hire a contractor that either wasn't connected through Lowes or came highly recommended by someone I knew very well. Contractors know there's a new sheriff in town and they can either take care of business or get out of town (McDonald's is hiring).

Thank you, Lowes.

Lowes Installation

I am an Installed Sales Coordinator with Lowes in Mississippi. This rip off rebutted about installers does not hold true to all stores.
I work hard with my installers and as far as there pay they get it within 5 days of me submitting the invoice to the General Office.

I feel my installers are my back bone to my business. If i do not pay them in a timely mnner then they will be gone. I have gotten rid of dead head installers that are out there to just rip you off. They make one mistake after another and feel they should not go back and fix the problem.

I always tell my installers before working for me. YOU MAKE ME OR BREAK ME.. If you break me then I will not use you again. I have been in retail too many years and around constuction that I know what which installer will work as a team with me to make the customers installation less painless as possible. Maybe this guy charged too much for doing work that was not acceptable to the customer.

I packed our car and headed to memphis,tn....Lowes came 2yrs. later...

We arrived in Memphis,tn. with what we could carry in our car.

I started to work the next day. I worked doing whatever I could to earn enough money to re-establish our lives.

Then I got wind of Lowes coming to open 8 new stores in the area. I hoped I could work for the company again under different circumstances, so i called their field office. The girl setting up the store knew of me and told me to get the insurance i needed to get back in.

I forked out 900.00 to insurance company and spent alot of time getting tools and everything in order. A week later a mgr. came to Memphis and told me they would not comment on why, but they would not use me in the entire area.

So, again i got burned by Lowes. I should have learned from the first time. So now I have a descriptive sign on my truck advertising my services and i never resist sitting in their parking lot right in front of their door (when i don't have work to do).Beware.
