If I would have read about this company on the internet before I made a purchase, I would have ran.  They filed bankruptcy a couple of years ago leaving creditors with 52 million dollars in unpaid bills and many unpaid employees.  Now they reopened 2 stores in LA under a different name.  Anyway, live and learn, here is the story.  I visited the store when in LA.  I thought it was a cute boutique and purchased a dress.  I thought about purchasing another dress, but it was $600 and I didn't have an occasion to wear it.  A week after I got home I decided the dress was unique and I would just save it until I had an occasion.  I ordered the dress on Friday around noon LA time.  She said I was lucky the dress was still there because she had been calling people to see if she could get someone to wear it to the Golden Globes Awards that Sunday.  The SA said she would send it that day and I asked that she call with a tracking number so it didn't sit on my front porch.  I called again on Monday and they still had no tracking number.  I finally got a tracking number and it had gone out Monday evening.  I received the dress on Wednesday.  I tried the dress on and noticed an odor.  I took it off and noticed the dress was stained.  I then realized the smell was body odor.  I immediately called the store.  The SA, Erica was nice.  She apologized and told me to send the dress back to her attention...she didn't seem surprised. I guess she found someone to wear it to the awards after all (maybe a store employee?)  That certainly would explain why it wasn't shipped on Friday.  My husband and I had tickets to the Badger game that night so I didn't have a chance to return the dress until the next day.  I got a call a week later saying they could not return the dress because it had been worn.  Yes, I explained, that is why I returned it.  Sorry, store policy.  I was mad.  If I had any indication they would do this I would have sent a picture on my camera phone of the stains and ran to UPS immediately, but the SA I spoke with an hour after receiving the dress said no problem.  She would talk to the owner who was at another location.  She called back 15 minutes later.  Her manager had come over, saw the dress, reviewed the video tape from the window for the week between when I was in the store and when the dress shipped and it hadn't moved.  So, in 15 minutes you review a week's worth of video after your manager got there from another location.  Does anyone else see a problem with this story?  Please stop the lying.  She said sorry, can't return the dress.  I started a dispute with American Express which ruled in my favor due to no reply from the store.  After it was credited back, they contacted American Express.  Their "in-store counsel" said I wore the dress and it "reeked of alcohol and body odor".  Please stop the lying, what kind of attorney uses the word reeked in an official letter.  I called American Express and they are reopening the dispute.  I am going to have the manager of the restaurant we went to before the game give an affidavit that I wasn't wearing the dress that night, as if I would wear an evening dress to the basketball game.  I guess whatever it takes to get justice.  How can people do business this way?  Obviously some people have no sense of right and wrong.  The moral of the story is research a company before doing business and return an item immediately, even if you don't really have time, if there is a problem.
