When i joined lucille roberts, i did because i wanted to lose weight and felt i'd be more comfortable in an all women gym.

i got a 2 year membership, and the only payment they accept is if i link it to a bank account or credit card. Well, 5 months later, i look at my bank statement and guess what? they were taking out 2 payments every month!! The day i called they took it out 4 times!! this means all of my checks for my bills bounced, and i had to pay almost $200 in bank fees.

When i called their customer service i get a rude, bored, unsympathetic idiot who says "i don't know, we have no record of all these payments being taken out, you have send us your bank statements as proof" Interesting how a company has "no record" of how much money they are collecting from their customers?HMMM...

I put a stopped all access they had to my account through my bank. However, I never recieved a bill or statement, or even a phone call to follow up on my membership or my dues.

Recently, i went to the gym just to see if my membership card worked, it didn't, it said i had a "bad account". Once again, I'm on the phone with customer service, they want me to pay for the remainder of my membership, and was informed that there had been a credit applied to my account for 6 months. How convinient that nonone notified me of such.

i guess assumed that i wouldn't go back and figured that not telling me was just as well since my contract isn't expired yet and i would have to pay for the remainder of it...

well i just want the world to know since there are commercials all over the place for their crappy gyms that don't even have new machines, i never got asked about orientation, and all they do is try to recruit new members that if all went couldn't possibly fit in the small gyms thay have. The instructors are all snotty and it smellsworse than a men's bathroom in there.

well, now that I've vented i feel slightly better, but still have to pay $400 or my credit will be ruined by these idiots!!!!

Same problem at Bayside Lucille Roberts

#2Consumer Suggestion

Tue, January 20, 2004

I had the same experience at the Lucille Roberts in Bayside. I called the customer service number and they too claimed that they did not have a record of these debits. I sent them, via registered mail, copies of my bank statements and a strognly worded letter to cease and desist from making those withdrawals.

Next, you should go to your bank and fill out a fraud report and close that account, reopen a new one. They can't get any money that way.

Never use a debit card for this kind of transaction--only a creit card--Am Ex is best. That way, you can dispute charges easily and no checks will bounce.
