Signed 1 year gym membership at Lucille Roberts, 05/2006 but never received a member ID. Never returned to gym after sign up day,never heard from gym for next 3 months. No bills,letters or calls.Credit card on file was cancelled a few days after due to suspicious activity from another vendor.

Because I never returned to gym, never got my member ID and had no communication from them in 3 mo's, I assumed membership was cancelled due to inactivity & nonpayment. Yesterday, received a collection notice from "s****.> Called Lucille Roberts, told the rep. unfair and unpleasant that they went through a collection without first contacting me to resolve billing.Explained to rep. I thought account was terminated due to above.Was told ID was used 1month after sign up. Told her impossible, never received ID, won't pay usage.Was told it's my word against her system and must pay due to contract.

Spoke to John (the manager) told the scan might've been from a staff member just validating card.Asked him why they validated my account but didn't contact me to pick up my ID in 3 mo's. Responded with "they may assume you got a new card." Told me I need to pay a fee for new ID if I want access to the gym. Absurd to pay for new one if they didn't give me 1st one .Told it's my responsibility to get ID not theirs. Why my responsibility if they held my card for 3 mo's, had staff validate it a month later but never bothered to contact me?They knew my account was active,no activity and knew couldn't use facilities without ID.Makes sense for me to assume nonmember status if I receive no correspondence from them in 3 months, no ID and never used.

Asked to terminate account, was charged $183.88 for early termination (2 mo's outstanding dues, 1 additional month {irregardless of usage} and early termination fee.Said they did nothing wrong. Paid $183.88 for their failure.Manager and rep. told different stories pertaining to member ID. Unethical practices.
