Lugoff - Elgin Water Authority rips off its customers
This 'utility' charges for water that the customer does NOT use. They require all customers place a 'deposit' with them and then refuse to refund the deposit until you terminate service with them and they refuse to pay interest while they hold the deposit. They manipulate billing cycles to their favor. If you question them on these practices they simply tell you that that is the way they do business and if you don't like it then you can drill a well and get off their system. These people are not responsible, not responsive, rude and don't give a d**n about anything except the bottom line even if that means ripping off their customers.
If you are considering moving to SC find another state. SC will screw you any way it can.

Tried to file a small claims case against this company today. Small claim action is prohibited against a governmental body in the state of South Carolina. A higher court must be used and a lawyer must represent your case. The state government sets up little corrupt companys and then exempts them from public legal action. The little companies can and do rip off their customers every month. They are able to keep getting away with this kind of action because the rip offs are of minimal dollar value and lawyers demand much more than the rip off is worth. If you value your legal rights and don't want to be ripped off by the corrupt STATE government, then STAY AWAY FROM SOUTH CAROLINA .
