I purchased a dog from a place called Luv and Care kennels in St. Louis, MO. I was told it was a show quality dog and was guaranteed it's health. I am a young female, and this was the first dog I ever purchased. They saw me as a sucker (and I was) I paid $500 for this dog and had a 15 day health gurantee on it, providing I take it to one of there Vets within 3 days of my purchase. The woman who helped me gave me two different sheets of Vets I could take it to.

When I took it to one of thier Vets they said she had a virus; I paid for some medication and thought nothing of it. I immediatly took it to my grandmothers house (she is a breeder and used to show dogs) Immediatly she said the dog has an underbite, which ment I couldn't show it or breed it. I checked and she was correct.

I took the dog back to the vet to get her third week puppy shots and was told she was too sick to get them, so I waited for her to get better. When I origonally purchased the dog she weighed 1lb.7oz. In the six weeks I had her she had not gained any weight.

About 2 weeks later I came home from work and she was violently ill. I called the Vet Luv and Care sent me to and they were closed, but there was a recording that left a phone number for an emergency clinic. I called the clinic and told them her symtoms and they told me to bring her in immediatly. They ended up keeping her overnight. They will not keep the dog during the day so you have to pick it up and bring it to your normal vets office. They kept her there that day, sent me back to the clinic that night, and she spent the following day at the vets office.

By this time I had switched to a more reputable vet, so she spent those 2 days at my new Vets office. The following weekend I went to Luv and care and told them what had happened. I brought all of my vet records and reciepts. They refused to help pay for any of the bills or reimburse me for the origonal cost of the dog (I paid $500 for a show quality dog, but she is not due to her underbite) They tried to run me around in circles asking questions like "What kind of viris did she have when you brought her home?"

When I told them I didn't know they said "What kind of Vet is this that can't even tell what kind of viris it has?" But the funny thing is the vet she was referring to was the one they sent me to. They have refused to cooperate with me on any level, so I reported them to the Humane Society. I then learned they have an open case against them, and they pretty much told me they are a puppy mill.

I have done everything I can to get them out of business, but have been unsucessful thus far. My goal is not to get money. My goal is to get the helpless dogs out of thier care, and get them the medical attention, love, nutrition, and clean homes they deserve.

Make a USDA Report against them

You should make a USDA Complaint, this is a way to stop them.

You can email them at : ace@aphis.usda.gov and ask them where to make online a complaint for Missouri . I know you can do it online, but I don't know where the link is ? This will help, because they should send a USDA inspector....It means or they will get a fine or will have to improve their facilies...and if years after years nothing is done, they will have their license removed.

You can also request USDA inspection reports at :
https://foia.aphis.usda.gov/request.html

It is for free for the first report.

With doing that, it will make stronguer your USDA complaint, because USDA inspectors get a copy of what you asked at the Freedom of Information Act.

It will also allow you to see what kind of people you are dealing with.

Last, on this web page :
http://www.nopuppymills.com
maybe with posting your story, someone will know already more about them, and they also have an insider search for Puppy Mill facilities.

Be sure to also file a Rip-off Report here so many others will find your story!

Good luck and don't give up !

Your problem raises a few questions in my mind

You claim your puppy had a virus. Most viruses show up within 14 days of exposure. So, if the puppy was sick the first time you took it to the vet why didn't you get the name of what it was sick with and the prognosis and follow thru with the breeder? If i read your story right you had the puppy almost 6 weeks when it became violently ill...I can't believe it was the same illness you treated the dog for the first time around? I am suspecting highly the problem you had was more buyers remorse than an actual breeder's problem. The only issue you may have is if the breeder wrote somewhere that this puppy was suppose to be show quality, if it isn't she should be willing to replace it when you give it back.

I think there is more to this story than we have been told. Perhaps, you should take more responsiblity for your actions?

I have no idea who this kennel is, but this is what i see from your story.
