Many of us arent familiar with Luxottica products but they are the owners of Ray Ban and Oakley sun glasses. In late May, I sent to their warranty department a pair of the Rayban Aviator Glasses, gold plated with a check of $12.50 for evaluation and included a letter of complaint.

My complaint was after 6 years, the plating of gold was flaking off the frames, which is unusual since this product is well above $100 price at any good optical store.  I received a letter on June 8th, indicating that they determined that the needed repair was not due to defective material or workmanship, but as courtesy they will repair or replace the eyewear at a reduced price of $72.50.

I immediately contacted them since the issue was plating and strictly plating and had nothing to do with their claim that I must have abused the sunglasses.  They indicated that they will look into this further and to contact in 10 to 13 day's. 

Around the 19th of June, I contacted them, and again reiterated the problem  was not due to workmanship, but they did offer a new pair for the reduced price of $65.  I promptly received the new pair, plus I also received my old pair of Ray Ban's .  What is unusual is that I originally requested clarification of the warranty, but the warranty is unavailable on the web site, nor was received with the new sunglasses.

Let's face it buyer beware, note for Luxottica sake  the Notification number is 51079077 if they feel they should answer this missive.
