M&M Financial, Chris Peters, Serah Patorasky, H.I. Grundy Canadian Lottery Fraud To Get Your Checking Account Number London Ontario
I received a letter with a check. The envelope had a Canadian postmark. The envelope had no return address. The letter from M&M Financial of Ontario explained that I won $150,000 in the Second Category Sweepstake Draw and that they received acknowledgement of my winnings from the Government Lottery Commission, but that I owed $4,550 for the taxes before I could receive my winnings.
The check from Mitchell/Martin, Inc. of New York, NY was $300 more than the tax due ($4850). I found Mitchell/Martin on the web (the company named on the check, not the letter) and called them. They indicated that the check was a fraud and asked that I fax them a copy. I have also contacted the USPS Inspectors to file this report. I was tempted to call the number and offer to sign and endorse the check to the tax agent and that they could keep the $300 if they'd send me the certified $150,000 check. Wonder what they'd say to that offer? Amazing is how stupid the crooks are. I feel sorry for those who believe these scams and get caught. All I can say is INVESTIGATE before you jump.
