GRUNDY a company sends a letter and a check in the mail stating I've won a sweepstakes out of CANADA for &150,000.00 AND THAT THE ENCLOSED CHECK FOR $5850.00 is to cover the CANADIAN NON-RESIDENT GOVERNMENT service tax (GST) payable to the Canadian tax office M & M- LONDON--- TAX AGENT- HARMILTON Ontario Canada
I noticed a piece of mail with no return address that came from Canada. when opening the envelope I found a letter stating I had won a Sweepstakes draw held this month (January, 2008) for $150,000.00. There was also a check in the amount of $5850.00 and the letter stated it was deducted from my winnings for the purpose of paying the Canadian Non-Resident Government Service Tax (GST), which was payable to the Canadian Tax Office as stated below on the letter (Lonelly Amany @ 12 Dixon RD. Harmilton, on. T3C 4J9, Canada).
The letter advised me to call my claim agent (Chris Peters 1-416-822-8960 or Martin Lucas 1-416-826-5158 if not able to contact Chris). I was able to reach Chris and the first thing he did was verify my name and Claim # from my letter and informing me to keep my letter in a safe place as my claim # is very important as it is used as my password.
Chris told me to deposit the check as it will be a couple of days for the check to clear. This all just sounds so shady. All I know is I'm not a fool. As the old saying goes, "What goes around, comes around."
