I went to Maaco with damage to my pickup, although Minor Damage I am disabled and talked to Jim about fixing it. Jim stated he could do anything including rebuilding a whole car. He said my damage would take about 3 hours labor to pull out dents plus steel material to reinforce the damaged area and a little more time to weld the materials in and then wrote up a estimate to that effect! I told him that my truck could not be tied up forever or at all because of my disability. He said that it would only take half a day no problem! Then he asked that I return to him tuesday of the following week.

A couple of days went by and I called him to make sure he could still handle the repairs to my truck on Tuesday, and he said he was very busy and could not get away to get the materials. I trold him that I would locate the materials myself and have them with me when i come in on tuesday.

I arrived on Tuesday after spending a few hours tracting down the materials and spending that cost myself. He said he could not find the estimate and that he would have to write me another, which he did. My first estimate was a home! I got home after droping the truck off and he called me saying it was going to cost more money. I was at my desk and had both estimates in front of me, and I ask he why is it going to cost more? He said we do not get along, come pick up my truck at which point he hung up on me! I am disabled, but i was made. I then went and picked up my truck--The Truck had paint on the window and was very dirty from whatever they did in the short time I left it with them!

Last year I got this truck painted by the same place and they charged me over 1800.00--failings to put on the bumper and paint on the tailgate not covering--no paint cover around mirrors either.

They do very bad work! They do not keep there word! There prices are very high for very low quality work! And last they have no right to waste my time and money and hang up on me. Who is the customer here. Does Jim want to fight with Disabled? Someone needs to teach Jim some Service Manners! He didn't just loose me as a customer, he lost all my friends, seniors, the disabled, religious folk, and many thousands of my motor cycle friends---He lost several thousands all ready! If he wants a fight with me who is going to lose? Do not do business with Jim at Maaco he gives the automotive industry a bad name!

Understandably Upset

#2Consumer Comment

I can see your point and completely understand your position. I have done some business with this Maaco as well. I see the attitudes you speak about. I truly hope you understand that these Maaco's are all independently owned, Franchisees as they are called.

I come from a small town in MO and grew up in a body shop as my uncle owned a shop, I even worked in it while I was in High School. I have since moved here and seing Maaco for the first time.

My comment is actually a question. If this Maaco was managed by someone else, would you consider coming back? For example, if it was managed by someone with customer service background and implements Quality Control measures. If the expectations were raised and were no different than any other high end shop.

The thing is Maaco has single-stage less expensive, even economical in nature that will not be show quaility. It's not intended to. Show quality requires complete restoration in some cases, much sanding and other body work, and multi-stage paint, which Maaco provides. However, it costs much more, it has to as there expenses are much higher, including high labor. Even the best of body shops are going to have complaints, but since they are not franchised, it seems people don't focus on them. This is a nationwide company and quite simply a target. As a matter of fact, many times, complaints are not from customer, but from competition creating a frenzy.

I'm not saying this is from competition, especially since I know the shop and the "Jim" he is speaking of.
