I paid $1,193.00 to have my car painted it's origenal coler.

Not only did they paint my car the wrong coler. They failed to mask the car right and got paint all over everything.

All rubber molding have paint on them. The inside door panels have paint on them.Even the tail lights. In addition to that they left a spring out of the driver door hinge so it want stay open. And my car is
full of paint over spray and left over sanding dust and dirt.

This is a rare 1988 Pontiac Trans Am GTA.Now I'm getting the run around about having to wait a month before they correct the paint coler.

This car had some cracked paint but not even a parking lot ding in it and had never been repainted before. For
what I paid it should have been perfect, clean and the right coler at least.

My yellow VW came back orange!

This sure sounds a lot like what happened to me when I took my VW Corrado to Maaco to be painted. I paid somewhere around $900to get my car painted and a dent fixed at a Maaco back in Dayton Ohio. When I dropped it off at the shop I made it very clear I wanted my car to be the factory color because I didn't want to have to repaint the door jambs. Well about a week later I go to pick up my car and when I get there my car is school bus yellow/orange instead of the nugget yellow it was suppose to be! They guy there tried telling me that it looked better and more "intense" then the factory yellow.

I started to get very upset and then they had the nerve to tell me that when they ran the paint code this is what it came up being and that my car was not the original color and the orange color was factory...Oh did I really start to blow a fuse then. That is when I told him I knew the original owner and have known the car since it was new so he was flat out lying to me! I told him I was not taking my car until it was painted correctly! He stated that if I didn't take my car he was going ot charge me for storage from this day forward.

I told him to start charging! I called corporate and then I was able to get the number for the owner this this particular location (South Dixie) and after talking ot the owner and showing him the different color they were trying to get me to accept he agreed to repaint my car. After the repaint I got my car back and thats when I seen all the other stuff wrong also. They remove the rubber seals in my door jambs, plastic clips and trim along the roof and all my change and laser pointer from my key chain! So I went right back into the office of this location and told them to get the owner there again before I would take my car.

When the owner got there he "found" my laser pointer after talking to some of the employee's, found the trim to my roof but the clips and rubber seals were no where to be found.

They said they would look for my items and give me a call later that night. Well after 2 days of no phone calls I called the owner and he just offered to replace the items. He called the VW dealership and thats when he found out those missing items were in the $500 range.

I ended up just getting a partial refund because I was just so tired of dealing with them. The owner would play dodge phone with me so much I just said "oh well" and figured I would not be going back there anymore. I never had anywhere to vent before about this and I am so glad this site is here now for people to tell their stories....I ended up replacing my door jamb and sunroof seals and finding the missing trim and clips at a local junk yard but I think even though these are less expensive paint jobs your cars should be painted the right color!

Thanks,

Patrick

They say I paid for a low priced paint job which is not true. I
paid $36.00 to replace the pin in the drivers door hinge[I supplied the pin kit]$36.00 to adjust the passenger side door.
$522.00 to paint the door jams and prepare the body for paint.
$599.00 for the paint job itself. When I ask about the sloppy masking job and paint all over everything.I was told you didn't
get a good masking job for a $599.00 paint job. When I ask what
the other $522.00 was for I got no reply. When I ask about all
the dust and dirt left all over the inside of my car I was informed they where not a detail shop. "Hello" On the card you
are given to call Maaco for you warrenty it ask you six things.
Number five ask "Was your vehicle clean".Now tell me your not
suposed to clean your mess up when your finished with a persons
car. Also I ask the shop owner why if the MAACO in Dothan Alabama
could properly mask off five cars for me,two for my sisters husbend and one for my brother. Why couldn't his so called prodution shop do it too.I'm going to take my car back there on 10/18/04 to be repainted the right coler.I'll more than likely
get a bigger mess than I have now. But what choice do I have.
$1193.00 is hard to come by for a disabled veteran.

Patrick,

A good paint job requires lots of labor. MAACO specializes in low-dollar paint jobs. To get the price down they have to skip a lot of the steps that a legitimate body shop takes. You wanted a low-budget job and that's what you got.

I once asked a friend who ran a body shop if he could paint a car for the same price as MAACO. He said, "Sure. Just drive your car into my paint booth and leave wipers on."
