Macey And Aleman,Legal Helpers This company did not offer the services they promised Chicago Illinois
I retained Macey and Aleman on the 18th of October 2008. I paid a retainer fee and signed a payment agreement. The first four payments would come from my checking account. I paid the first two payments and in this time I had contacted Macey and Aleman and requested that I wanted to speak with an attorney about issues I was having with a creditor and after waiting several weeks for a call that would never come I decided I would stop the payments from coming out of my account. I called several times after this to set up payments by mail but wanted to speak with an attorney and still was given no return call. I had issues with another creditor that had sent papers pertaining to court and called to ask what I needed to do and was told that they would not handle anything to do with this that I had to handle this myself they did not represent me in this kind of court. I was aware that they would not represent me in this court but asked them as my attorneys for bankruptcy what I needed to do such as filing for a continuance or if I needed to give the creditor their information showing that I had retained a lawyer. I was so shocked by this that I decided that I would no longer use their services. I faxed the company a letter just as they said to so I would get a refund of my money and amazingly they never received this letter so last week I received a letter stating they were no longer representing me and I would get a refund so I called to inquire if this would be a check or if it would go into my account and was told they did not know. I was also told that the company had not been representing me for quite some time but I should get a refund within thirty days of them dropping me as a client but could not be told the date that I was no longer a client. I was so confussed by what this woman had told me and I think if she had recorded herself she would be confussed also to hear what she was saying.
I would tell anyone looking closely at who they hire for bankruptcy I hired a lawyer for $1200.00 and Macey and Aleman charged $1900.00 so I saved alot of money with this other attorney and have received calls back from him on every occassion that I have called.
