Like many other users, I have been the latest victim of the fraudulent practices and fu Mach Speed Technologies Inc strives on.

I purchased a 128 MB mp3 player from tigerdirect.com in October 2005. I submitted the rebate form with the both the bar codes present on package.

Today I get an email stating that my rebate was denied because of: "BC = Missing Correct UPC Part number barcode. SN = Missing Correct/Valid Serial number on the rebate form."

On further enquiry they have blatantly denied the existing of the bar codes (even when I let them know that I have copies), and to my surprise, I was told the existence of a number under the battery as the serial number. No where in the rebate form was it mentioned where to find the serial number, and don't accept the responsibility to have known this.

Like any logical minded person, I cut both the bar codes on the package and send it to them. {Thinking one might be the so called "serial number" and the other as the UPC bar code)

As I have seen many others have faced the same issue, I have no doubt that MachSpeed is doing this deliberately to avoid paying for the rebates.

I will not hesitate to file a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) and eventually a civil suit.

Such practices cause mental harassment and unnecessary burden to the consumer and need to come to a stop under any circumstances.

I also hold TigerDirect responsible for harboring such fraudulent companies.

Others facing similar problems with MachSpeed please reply to this post.

RC,

My name is Mike Mitchell and I am in charge of customer service for Mach Speed. I cannot research your particular rebate with just your initials. Please send me and email to sales@machspeed.com and I will do my best to resolve your issue.

Also, if you had taken the time to read our rebate faq on www.machspeed.com it clearly states where the serial # is located.

I do not have your submission in front of me, but it sounds as if you sent in the Tiger Direct Part # code. This is not a UPC but instead it is similar to a price tag. The manufacturer has no control over this sticker.

Please email me and we can resolve your issue.

Mike
