Terrible Experience! Do not buy a car from here!!

Macomb Wholesale
267 Southbound Gratiot Ave
Mt Clemens, MI 48043-2416
(586) 307-8433

I recently purchased a used 98 Plymouth Neon with 85,000 miles for $2,900 on June 12th, 2006. On July 23rd, the engine seized up and the repair was qouted at $2300 for a new engine. I called Dan (salesperson there) and he told me, "sorry I can't help you...". Terrible customer support and a terrible experience to say the least! ... I think they might have put Slick 50 in this vehicle before I bought it to make it sound o.k. It started to rod knock after the first week, and they told me the oil leak under neath the car was because it just had the oil changed. That wasn't the case. It was a rear main seal leak...

Untrustworthy people there... I will never even look at the place again when I drive by... I'm now donating it to a charity... that's about all the good that will come out of this...

Report them to the State and Please Get a Mechanic to look at a car before you buy

Go to the State of Michigan website and report the dealer to the Sect. of State. They most likely knew it was a bad car. Instead of fixing it correctly or dumping it off at a auction, they sold it to you. You did pay a fair price for the Neon, with a good engine. I always tell my customers purchasing a car to have it checked over by someone you trust. Your first sign was the oil leak. You most likely purchased the car AS-IS, but a good dealer would have tried to work with you by either taking the car back in on trade or at least gave you their cost to put a good used engine in the car. I know because I work for a dealer in Michigan.

We have taken 2 cars back in on trade because the young man destroyed both of them within months of getting them, this year already. Now we are stuck with 2 cars with bad engines. However he is still happy because he has a car and he isn't stuck with a car that doesn't run. So the next time you go to purchase a car take a mechanic with you or tell the dealer that you want to take it to the mechanic, they have to let you by law. And try to buy from a dealer that has been in business for quite a few years. Crooked dealers don't last long. We depend on repeat business to stay alive and working, but we are always looking for new customers.
