PRICED HIGHER THAN MANUFACTURER'S AND OTHER MAJOR STORE AND THEN ADVERTISED FOR "VIRTUAL" SPECIAL AND DISCOUNTS - MISLEADING AND IRRESPONSIBLE HEADQUARTER RESPONSE!

Black Friday, Macy's had a kitchenware advertised for 40% off. I bought one.

The story even gets better. $399.99 was Macy's claimed original price. I bought it and later found the same model, same UPC, same product in different store including manufacturer's website listed at $299.99 (no discounted price). Macy's have products inflated. I expressed my concern to Macy's where I bought it. They told me was that is what Macy's sells for. I subsequently called the executive office, Darlene answered the call and said similar excuse, in addition, gave example of Martha Stewart products that are contracted with Macy's. Unfortunately the blender I bought list $399.99 is NOT special products that Macy's contract with M.Stewart. Darlene from Macy's executive office challenged me "How do you know that we do not have it with them"... Simple, MACY'S never branded the company in question with Macy's, nor advertised or have a special section like Stewart and much more! She is trying to question consumer intelligence.

I expressed my further serious concern to her of their pricing policy after knowing her excuse and UNWILLINGNESS to investigate. A total loss of confidence as a consumer and moreover, I will not trust the name "Macy's" any longer. Consumers should know!

After I told Darlene in head office that I will be posting and contacting authorities to investigate, she finally STOP telling me the above excuses of Stewart (special agreement) told me at the end, she has no idea about Macy's pricing or agreement with manufacturer's...

Please investigate to protect consumer. You can go to online stores, retail stores... so far, I have not found any store list the same item for $399.99 but $299.99. What is Macy's excuse?

Please protect consumer from FALSE advertisement and price gouging...

I do not trust Macy's claimed original prices any longer. This is NOT clothing, but kitchen electrical appliance - how can so far, Macy's is the only one with a $100 difference for a small kitchen electric appliance?????

In this economy... this is NOT RIGHT. Especially, after being brought to their local store to executive office level...

People that actually believe that they are getting things at reduced price sale are the kind of people swamp land is sold to. I worked for several different retail stores where the price tag was done by putting a price about 40% over what it will be sold at. Then a line is drawn through the high price & the 'sale' price is then written beneath it. In 1972 I worked for Gimbles in their NY store bargin basment at Christmas. There was a rack of $9.00 pants that they could not sell. They had us tear the tags off them. Then they put $15.00 tags on them. We then drew lines through the $15.00 & wrote $11.00 on the tags. When we were finished, a sign saying "slashed for clearence" was put on the rack. The pants sold out in about an hour. Women were calling their friends over to share their discovery. I still remember one woman calling excitedly to her friend, "Sylvia, hurry- slashed for clearence"
I worked for Burdines in the mid-70's. The 'original price' was raised & lowered on the tags to conform to both the discount percentages & the commission paid to the sales person percentages that would change each week with the mgt.'s choice of what they wanted to sell more of that week.

You state that macy's had it priced at $399 BUT on black Friday YOU bought it at 40% OFF which means you paid around $239. $239 is still $60 cheaper then the $299 they have it priced at other stores. You're just pissed cause you didn't get the 40% off the $299 the other stores sell it for. So much for their so called 40% off BS. Don't care for macy's either. There's a shoe store here in town that jacks the retail price of their shoes UP 20% then gives 20% OFF. It pays to know what the real retail price of an item IS before you fall for these so called discounts are.

A store is allowed to sell an item at what ever price it wants. So if Macy's wants their original price to be $399 on an item that is sold elsewhere for $299 that is their choice. Just as it is YOUR choice to shop around and compare prices.

If you are saying that every store has to sell every item at the exact same price, or they must tell you in advance that an item is actually available cheaper somewhere else you are.....well crazy.

You paid about $240 at Macy's with the 40% off. So if you are really that upset about it return the item to Macy's and go to the other store and pay the additional $60 to get the item at $300.
