Mademoiselle Fitness Pen Centre Biggest scam I have encountered in the last 20 years Saint Catharines Ontario
After reading through many of these reports on this company I fealt I had to add mine. Only to warn others to stay away from this company. Far away. In October of 2006 my daughter wanted to join up. She was putting on some weight and wanted to try and do something about it. She fealt that joining a fitness spa would be the best thing for her. She was talked into it by a swift saleperson on some $5.00 down membership. After reading through the contract I highly advised NOT to join up. She had her heart set on it.
It would take me an hour to tell you the trouble that she had with this outfit. They are rude, totally unwilling and in my opinion unqualified and in some cases incompetent to help anyone with a persoal fitness goal. She was ripped off of $100 to do a "personal" evaluation, which she never recieved the results or promised materials for. After coming home crying one night I went down and reamed out the manager (in front of her staff) for 20 minutes. That worked for a few weeks and they were right back at it. She could not even ask a question down there without being made to feel stupid or totally unwanted. I wrote letters to the head office, all went un-answered.
She stopped going after about 5 visits and never went back. Thankfully I made her write in her calender the date she needed to go down there and give them the formal notice of cancellation. She did not have to go through the horror story that some others are going through with continued charges.
But bottom line is they are way overpriced. It's a gym, not a castle. $700 to $900 for a years membership to a gym is insane. They pretend to offer far more than a gym but in reality the promises are mostly false. The staff are poorly trained and some are outright incompetent. The manager of the Pen Centre location was hideous.
Be warned. There are far better choices.
