In February of 2014 my husband and myself purchased a 2005 KIA sedona from Madison motors in London Ohio. Prior to purchasing the vehicle my husband noticed that the check engine light was on...the sales manager had his on sight mechanic hook the vehicle up to a diagnostic machine that showed a bad o2 sensor...which he replaced...we did not know it at the time but later on after another interaction with this on sight mechanic we overheard him telling another employee that he replaced the wrong o2 sensor

simply because the one that needed replaced was too difficult to get to...so he replaced the one that was easy to access and cleared the code so the check engine light would go off. The day after the purchase our vehicle caught on fire...smoke was pouring into the inside of the vehicle through the vents. We took the vehicle back to Madison motors ..where the on sight mechanic replaced the price responsible for the fire...

the seceratary and the sales manager mike were extremely rude and even at one point told the mechanic that he's "done dealing with the piece of s**t" mind you this is the week after we bought the vehicle. A few weeks after that a whole slew of problems start happening. The vehicle was barely driveable an left us stranded a lot. Finally at our breaking point we again reach out to the dealership ...we knew that they had no legal obligation to help us...but a moral one.

And the owner agreed to find out what was wrong with the van and get us a different vehicle from a lot that they do trades with...weeks went by and all the promises went unfulfilled... The employees became extremely rude and obnoxious... And then the business finally stopped all communication with us. We paid 4000 dollars for a vehicle that we were able to drive for 3-4 weeks before it fell apart. And the company promised us a different vehicle and they never fulfilled that promise.

One question...based on your exact words:  "...prior to purchasing the vehicle my husband noticed that the check engine light was on."  OK, lets see here.  No money has changed hands.  No papers were signed.  You come in, the car is started and your husband sees the check engine---WARNING---light is "on".  What do you guys do?  Despite the light indicating a problem is "ON", you buy the car anyway!  Incredible.  Now, you wonder why you've had problems.  Did you do ANY research prior to going in?  If so, you would have seen about the very well known "JUNK" reputation of Kia's!  Its all over the place!  Kia's are nothing more than cheap junk!  Should the dealer have sold a car which is in better condition?  Of course.  However, the FINAL line of defense is being a SMART CONSUMER.  The FACT you and your husband moved forward in an "AS IS" deal with a car which tells you, "Hey, I have problems.  You better not buy me", shows the next time you want to buy a car, why not take somebody along with a backbone to get the job done right!

No, I don't work for them!
