MVL are not a moving company!

What the customer has complained about is completely true as something similar happened with me on my move coordinated by Madison Van Lines. However, the one thing that does not come out (and this is actually very important) is that MVL are brokers. They have no say with any aspect of the actual move. The only function of MVL is to get cutomers, charge them an up-front fee and pass on the data to an actual moving company. I presume the Business then takes a cut from the actual movers. Zero liability on the move - they are just a market place to forward your requirements to an actual mover.

Maggie their representative who coordinated my move from FL to IL was never available on the phone and all calls go to her voice mail. She never called me back in spite of me having left messages on her voice mail. The initial estimate provided by them is based on thin air (probably they will claim this is based completely on what customers tell them). But here's the rub - customers are not moving around all the time .. they do not know what needs to be told! It should be the responsibility of the brokers to carry out due diligence and make sure nothing is missed. Unless you have an on-site visit, your estimates will vary by 300-500%. My estimate was $1900 and I ended up paying $4600. When I asked for an on-site visit (one and a half months before the actual move) they said I do not have enough time for a visit. I am not sure whether this is a ploy - but MVL will provide you zero help and you are at the mercy of the actual movers (Ocean movers in my case) for the entire move. Oh and if you get your move insured with MVL, best of luck getting hold of them to raise a claim. My advice to readers is to put in some effort and go work with the actual mover rather than with a broker.

On the positive side, MVL also arranged to move my car for me. I can't praise enough the business who got my car across on time and in perfect condition! Pick-up and delivery on my vehicle were top notch

These are 2 different companies, owned and operated by 2 different people. Both have been in business for a while and are pretty highly rated. Why would any of these companies change their name?

MVL has never had a TV go missing in our history and if one did it would be covered under our insurance. We have no such customer that lines up with this name and location and no such customer claiming a TV to be missing. Any customer with an issue has easy access to us by phone and email and our resolution track record is close to 100% satisfactory.

This is a competitor acting in poor taste and it's a shame they have to resort to tactics like this.

Folks, do your research and listen to your gut. If you're dealing with an overly aggressive, smooth talking individual that is pressuring you to act now or directing you to read ridiculous posts like this on its competitors; Be Cautious and ask yourself what type of company would spend their time disparaging a competitor.
