I received a phone call from these people asking me if I was interested in receiving a 5 year subscription to certain magazines at a discounted price with a $90 down payment and then $57.50 per month for a year.  They also promised me a watch which I have never received.  To this date I have not received any magazines at all and they refuse to take my request for a cancellation.  They said it's past the cancellation date.  I received the first bill in the mail on January 27th and called them to cancel after I found this link http://www.ripoffreport.com/r/Magazine-Publishers-Service-Canada/Montreal-Quebec-H2Y-3G7/Magazine-Publishers-Service-Canada-Magazine-Publishers-Service-A-family-business-I-pai-866632  It seems I'm not the only one that has been scammed.  They told me this (copied and pasted from their email)

Dear Janice McEachern,

We received your request to cancel the Subscriptions you ordered from Magazine Publisher Service.

Please consider the following:

1) You placed an order with our company and to show good faith, you paid the required down payment.

2) We called to verify the order and to address all questions and/or concerns you might have.  Note:  FOR QUALITY ASSURANCE, THIS CALL WAS RECORDED.

3) At the time of Verification, you were in full agreement.

4) On the strength of your word and the fact that you paid a non-refundable deposit, we went to considerable expense on your behalf by processing and entering the order with the publishers.

For the reasons listed above, we are rightfully requesting the agreed upon monthly payments.  However, our company is aware of the fact that circumstances change and people sometimes reconsider.

For that reason, we offer an 'Early Termination Option'.  By paying 90% of the total balance early, you are free to terminate the agreement at any time.

Choosing the option will have no effect on your credit rating with our company.  You may simply call 1-800-784-0232. Our representatives will accept a Credit/Debit card by Phone.

In the event you choose to continue service, simply arrange to make the agreed upon monthly payments.

I called them and they were very rude on the phone.  They told me that I had a 3 day cancellation policy but that they were nice and upgraded it to a 10 day cancellation and that I was past the 10 days.  But I did not receive the first bill until January 27th with the letter stating the cancellation policy!

 I lodged a complaint with the BBB.  I told them I would like to cancel this before I am out any further funds for nothing!  Even though they told me that no other payments would go through on my credit card, only the initial payment, they have tried to take the money off my credit card!  My card was maxed out so it did not go through.  I will be cancelling that credit card to avoid any further charges.  I am expected to pay for a product I am not even receiving and by the looks of things no one else receives the products either.  I will also be going to the police.
