Love My Magic Jack!

I'm a widow and on disability which also means I'm on a strict budget.

I've had the "original", less expensive, Magic Jack for three (3) years now and I love it. I bought it in Walgreen's in the fall of 2009.

The first week I had to call the service department and they were courteous and helpful and had my problem fixed the next day.

After using the Magic Jack for three (3) months, I liked it so much I purchased the 5 Year Plan at a discounted rate. They charged my debit card, that day, for exactly the amount that was listed.

I moved to my new home in July and decided I wanted the freedom of the "new" Magic Jack Plus. I purchased it online, on the Magic Jack website and I was charged immediately, for the amount listed. It works perfectly and I was thrilled when it picked up all my info automatically, and included the three years I have left on my original contract.

You don't say where you ordered from or how you ordered -- over the phone or online. I've been a Magic Jack fan for three years now and try to read its ads, reviews and consumer comments and I've never heard of anyone being billed $3.00/month. At $19.95/year, that comes out to only $1.70/month and I've never heard of monthly billing -- although the ads DO refer to "$1.70/month" so I can see how that could be confusing to some people.

You say "the phone has been disconnected" -- are you talking about your regular home phone or are you referring to the Magic Jack? I strongly suggest you contact 1) your bank and explain the problem and 2) your telephone company (Did you ask to have your regular service disconnected because you purchased a Magic Jack?)

I'm sorry you're having problems but I can't related to them at all since I've had nothing but great service and correct billing for three years.

Was it ordered right from Magic Jack or another reseller that charges more and adds other things in??  I have two Magic jack's and they both are running perfect with no flaws and nothing more has been charged to my credit card...

How to Fix your Problem

#4Consumer Suggestion

I suggest that you contact your local Better Business Bureau and explain to them what has happened.  Make sure to keep all records of the transactions where they have taken your money.  The number for the BBB in Alabama is 256-927-5040. (I saw where you were from and took the liberty of looking the number up for you).  After contacting them and filing a formal complaint, contact your Attorney General's Consumer Affairs Center and make another formal complaint.  It is their job to make sure this doesn't happen to good people.  They are supposed to make sure that you get your money back and that the scam is shut down before anyone else gets scammed.  The number for Consumer Affairs in Alabama is 1-800-392-5658.  Good Luck!!!!!  I hope this helps.
