Ripoff Report post 27 Mar. 07
I received an ad in the mail from Magic Kids, Inc., 8235 Remmet Ave., Canoga Park, CA 91304. I read it over and noticed they had a money back guarantee if I hadn't made at least 10 times their distributor fee within 60 days of starting, they would refund their distribution fee in full. Since it looked legitimate, I sent them $147 + $18 shipping on 22 August 2006. (I don't think shipping cost them over $8 maximum.)

I am sorry I didn't check with the BBB before I answered their ad which I now find has rated Magic Kids with an F as follows:

F We strongly question the company's reliability for reasons such as that they have failed to respond to complaints, their advertising is grossly misleading, they are not in compliance with the law's licensing or registration requirements, their complaints contain especially serious allegations, or the company's industry is known for its fraudulent business practices.

After I received the distributor kit, I made copies of the 8 1/2 X 11 flier and posted them on bulletin boards. I also ordered business cards which I paid $90 for and I ran an ad in a paper called The Horseshoe Trader for $70. That ad ran for 10 weeks before Christmas 2006. I also handed out many business cards to people I saw with children in stores and on the street. Additionally, I put business cards in areas where people could pick them up.

I had expected many people would order discounted children's clothing from the Magic Kids website using my discount code. I waited for the checks to start coming from my advertising efforts. However, I did not receive even one small check, none, let alone any of the large amounts the advertisement indicated were possible.

I believe I gave Magic Kids a fair try and complied with all their requirements during which it cost me over $325. That is money I could not afford to lose. At 73 years of age I have limited funds to sustain myself. Therefore, on 22 December 2006 I wrote to Magic Kids requesting the refund they guaranteed, which was less than half of what it had cost me.

When I received no response from Magic Kids, I wrote a second time on 17 February 2007 requesting my refund per their guarantee. As of this date, 27 March 2007, I have still received no response from Magic Kids. Therefore it is my opinion Magic Kids is a scam, a fraud and a rip-off rather than a legitimate business.

I believe these people should be prosecuted criminally for fraud.
