MagicJack does work ... but barely.  If all you need is a phone number ... any phone number and don't care if there are NO services and the reception is spotty then MJ might work for you - not me.  Using my setup (Windows 7) 12G Ram - calls were "inconsistent" quality and would cutoff.   But if like most people you want "Real" caller ID/Number Blocking/Call Forwarding then look somewhere else.  FEES are outrageous and of course EXTRA!  It requires high speed internet service to work.

There is supposed to be a 30 day FREE money back guarantee ... well don't hold your breath on that one.  LOL  If you're keeping your old number it's another $20 to port in and if you don't like the serivice it's another $30 to port back out! It also takes about 3 weeks portage both ways and your FREE "supposedly" started when you ordered.  You get to EAT the portage fees! they're yours.  Also good luck on returning the MJ dongle.

It worked "sometimes" but would then cut off for no apparant reason?  The software you can BUY (yes more $$) to make it "fully functional" (ie - Fall Forwarding, Caller ID, Call Block) will ONLY work if the MagicJack is connected directly to your computer ... but when the MJ is connected to my computer it causes my PC to crash.  Without the extra software everytime you pick up the phone a window will POP up in the middle of your pc screen.  Very very very annoying if you're trying to work while making a call - so you will most definitely need to buy the extra software.

So far this FREE phone has cost me about $120 to "Try" ... yes folks it's a SCAM!  If you don't need YOUR number and any number will do, you don't need caller ID (with names since I have NOT memorized every phone number in the world), you don't need to block any harassing late night calls, you don't need to forward your phone in case your doctor is calling you back ... well it might work for you - NOT for me.
