Magwall Jamaica is a wonderful product and could be a huge success, but its owners Sam & Richard Catling are frauds.

They represent themselves to all as being experienced, successful businessmen from England, backed by glowing resumes with stories of their accomplishments and holdings in England.  It was several months before it became apparent these two con men were dishonest, unscrupulous, incompetent frauds. They did and continue to deceive everyone they do business with.  In their 6 years in Jamaica, all three business ventures they have managed have failed, leaving a slew of dissatisfied associates, partners, unpaid suppliers and service providers.

I brought the concept of Magwall to Sam Catling in 2010 and partnered up with Sam and his father Richard in 2011 to manufacture and sell Magwall panelized homes.  As a partner and largest investor in the venture, I now find myself removed as a director of the company, fired as COO of Magwall Jamaica and bared from the free Zone where the factory is located.  This occurred after a request to see the accounting when it became apparent that funds were being spent inappropriately to the direct benefit of the Catlings.  They have reneged on their agreements relating to my investment and I have no choice but to pursue my legal rights thru the Jamaican courts.

I warn one and all, do not do business with Sam or Richard Catling. Do not believe a word they say.  Do not provide any service for them, or supply them with any materials unless youre paid up front.  I have a long list of people that remain unpaid going back several months. I myself am out $530,000 US dollars to date.

I see that a lot of people posting on this site either use a phony name or do it anonymously to avoid a potential lawsuit. I will sign this statement as I welcome the Catlings to come after me in the courts with a slander or defamation action. They do not have a leg to stand on. Also if anyone out there has similar experiences with Sam or Richard Catling please feel free to ad to the rip off report. These men should be exposed before anyone else becomes a victim.

I still feel Magwall is a terrific product and a perfect fit for the Caribbean market. If you buy a home made from Magwall SIPS it could be the best investment you ever make. Just dont even consider it while Sam & Richard Catling have anything to do with the company. I personally am ashamed to have been associated with these men.

My last post was a retraction of my origional statements which I wrote after the Catlings proposed and signed an agreement to pay my wife and I $400,000 US within a 90 day period. This was done at a Mediation Hearing held at the old gun court in Kingston Jamaica February 17th 2012.

This was the beginning of a masterfully executed stall tactic designed to drag things thru the court system costing me more money in expenses at every turn. When payment was not received on time the Catlings made me chase them all the way back to court to have the agreement enforced. Finally we got a court date and my wife and I flew to Kingston to attend. We arrived in court with our 2 lawyers and a well prepared case. The Catlings arrived with an underling from their lawyers firm who stated that although he was a fill in for his ill colleague, he was not qualified to present a case. Delay, back home we flew. When the next date arrived we flew down, rented a car, hotel room and once again attended court with our 2 lawyers. The case was heard resulting in a ruling to enforce the origional agreement.  The Catlings of course filed an appeal resulting in the ruling being overturned on a technicality. Ruling attached.http://www.courtofappeal.gov.jm/content/magwall-ja-ltd-et-al-v-clydesdale-glenn-and-anor

Back to square one. Once again we end up in court but the next 3 hearings Richard Catling shows up with no representation. The court continually reprimands him and demands he retain council. On the day trial was set Richard states his lawyer is on his way. When the lawyer did not show the judge set a trial date and strongly advised Richard to attend trial represented by council.

This is where the story gets a little funny, and true to form the Catlings show their true deceitful nature. I'm in Toronto reading the Gleaner online and see an article done by Tameka Gordon on Moonraker Sips consisting of an interview with the CEO Sam Catling. Sam spins her a tale of the companies success and tells her that the company has invested $1mill US dollars in technology. That's a boldface lie. Read the article below. It reads like a commercial.

About a week later I emailed Tameka Gordon asking her if she had verified any of the details contained in the article. She replied stateing she had received a number of calls / emails saying Moonraker was closed down and they didn't answer the company telephone. In the follow up article Sam seems to have been caught off guard as he buries himself with a few hastily fabricated lies. He states the factory has been closed down for 3 months because all his raw materials had been stolen. She follows up on that statement and discovers neither the police nor the free zone security are aware of any such robbery. Of course they aren't, anyone who has been to the free zone knows you couldn't smuggle a stolen pencil thru security let alone pallets of 100lb cement board. There's more read the article.file:///Users/glennclydesdale/Desktop/Desktop/Moonraker%20trying%20to%20upend%20construction%20tradition%20-%20Business%20-%20Jamaica%20Gleaner%20-%20Sunday%20%7C%20June%2015,%2020.webarchive

Based on the article I realized that even if we were successful at trial, our chances of getting any money back were slim to none. We were no longer prepared to throw good money after bad so we dropped the case and walked away.

It seems that thru this whole proccess the only thing that got their attention was the Rip Off Report. I had hoped they would pay up and we could have updated this report in a more positive way but unfortunately the Catlings proved to be everything these posts make them out to be.

Also in this thread, another gentleman, John Marcocchio makes a complaint and in closing states " beware they are skilled "

Truer words were never spoken. Goodbye Sam, Richard and Jen Catling good riddance.
