Mailbox Magazines Rip off for $59.80 per month for 16 months! Tamarac, Florida
My father, in assisted living, is registered with "do not call" registry. He was phoned about a special deal with magazines and agreed to it. A letter was then sent to him outlining the cost is $59.80 per month for 16 months!!! Total is $956.80 for magazines. He had no idea of the cost and wants to cancel. They will not cancel, saying he agreed to this and it is nonrefundable. He is in assisted living for a reason -- he is not capable of making these kinds of financial decisions. I offered to pay the first $59.80 if they would cancel. They will not discuss canceling. Finally, after several calls, Nicole suggested I have my Dad's doctor write a letter and they would "review" it. They probably don't expect me to follow through, but I will give it a try. I am disgusted that they are even calling him, when he is on the "do not call" registry. The customer service gal (don't know her name) even suggested that I was at fault for allowing him to agree to such deals. I am furious with the way these people are ripping off unsuspecting seniors. My last words to her were, "Have a nice day scamming people."
