First:  I have been a faithful patron of Mama's pizza for 30+ years.  I discovered them at the bottom of a hill about a mile from my home when I was 10 years old.

Last weekend my wife and I were out shopping and thought we would call in a pizza order.  An hour later, we stopped by to pick up our pie.  Some of you may be familiar with the new coupon website GROUPON.  Anyway, we were using a prepaid voucher (THE GROUPON) for $15.00 worth of pizza and making up the difference with either cash or credit (bankcard in this case).

As my wife made the order, I listened in and reminded her that I wanted the special.  She doesn't like veggies on her pizza and asked for a special with meat only on one side & vegetables on the other side.  After repeating herself a few times, she was satisfied that the teen on the phone had the order.

We arrived about an hour later, and I went in for the pie.  When the girl behind the counter was asked for our order, she couldn't find the pizza.  After a little checking, they discovered that our order was not filled correctly.  Not only were they not apologetic, it was obvious they could care less about their mistake or our feelings.

After my wife went in to complain and they offered to "help us out" by selling the pizza (that we could literally only eat half of) for MORE THAN 50% of the purchase price, I got pretty irritated.  It cost me around 2 gallons of gasoline to drive from Candleridge (S Fort Worth) to Camp Bowie (Central Fort Worth) and back ($7 bucks or so).  After I drove away, we called the store and asked for the Manager.

When the Manager got on the phone, of course, it was the chubby young girl who made us the original offer.  When I told her "your offer to take our $15.00 voucher for a pizza that we can only eat half of AND is priced at $25 is ridiculous, after your mistake!", she laughed at me and said "you only paid $7 for that voucher!"

I am a 42 year old man who owns a business, makes a lot of money, AND loves a good value.  My business has an A+ rating with the BBB, FOR GOOD REASON.  To have some stupid young girl, totally unapologetic about her company's mistake, talk to me like she was chatting with one of her friends was the final straw.  WE WILL NEVER RETURN TO ANY MAMA'S PIZZA LOCATION.

Needless to say, I sent my unused coupons (GROUPONS) along with a copy of this report to the Corporate Office.  They can keep that $14 and use it for employee training.

After contacting the owner at Mama's pizza corporate location through the US mail, the situation was resolved to my satisfaction.  My peace offering was a hand written letter, signed by the owner, and several beautifully embossed $20 pizza vouchers.  I was also telephoned by the owner and we had a lengthy conversation.

I am honest enough to meet him half by saying that bringing this matter to this website was probably a little hasty.  I am sorry.  My final feeling about this pizza chain is one of acceptance.  When we went to an other location and had a great dinner.  It's great food and should be considered by anyone wanting the flavors of true pizzaria fare with a little ambiance.

The only thing I see here is they messed up your order. They should have remade the pizza. The rest of it sounds legit to me. I went to mamas pizza's webite and it indicates on their menu that a mama special pizza is 24.50$ so with your coupon you would owe 10$ I don't see anything in your report to indicate they declined your coupon. Now, if you are upset because you were supposed to be getting a special price, go reread groupons terms of service. It indicates that their coupons cannot be combined with any other offer. You must use the coupon for a regular full price menu item. So short of them being rude (which I am sure you were being too) I don't see a rip off here.
