I feel like a chump. I ordered 4 free CD's from Manay and paid for the shipping ($4.95). I didn't read the fine print in the license agreement or investigate the ramifications of not returning 2 CD's when I thought all 4 CD's were free.

I was charged $39.90 for not returning 2 of the 4 CD's. I figured I got taken and learned my lesson; nothing in life is free. I hadn't realized that the agreement also included 2 more CD's every 4 to 5 weeks for $39.90 with no return period.

I expect I'll be charged $39.90 for openoffice.org and security CD's that I don't want and would be leery of installing on my computer. I'm not sure I want the one game I installed, as it will remind me of this experience every time I see it.

My life is busy enough without having to read the fine print, return 'free' software, call Manay's "Customer Delight" department to lodge a complaint, contact my credit card company to contest payment, much less document all these actions. So I'm expressing my frustration here in hopes that someone else will not get taken by these thieves.

What is most irritating about this is that whoever is behind Manay is bound to do it again. I'm not even sure where they are located in Texas. The return address on the first shipment was from Sache, the billing from Frisco, and this current shipment from Garland. Once folks have realized that Manay is a rip-off all they have to do is change their name and start this scheme all over again. I guess I'll have to be more guarded on the internet.
