I recently went to this dealer when the right passenger side window suddenly went down and would not go back up.  The dealer claimed that the window motor shorted out and had to be replaced.

Less than two weeks later, another door did the same thing.  This time I went to a reputable repair place and they determined there was nothing wrong with the window motor but the switches in the driver side door just needed to be replaced instead.  They did that replacement and everything works fine.

The cost of the replacement door motor on the first repair was nearly $700.00 with Toyota claiming the motor was bad.  If that was the case, why would the window roll itself DOWN leaving the owner with an urgent need to make a repair.

It appears that the Toyota dealer just starts replacing parts starting at the most expensive they can fine, and working their way down to the least expensive until the the item starts working again.

Is there any way to get some kind of independent determination to see if they even replaced the part they claimed they replaced or if they just cleaned a switch in the drivers door and when it worked claimed to have replaced the motor in the passenger side door.

There is no way that I can find to make a meaningful complaint to Toyota or certainly not Manhattan Beach Toyota.  They just claim they did what they said they did and move on.  My guess is that this is not a reputable business.  The cost of replacing the entire switch assembly in the driver side door was less than a third what Toyota charged for the "apparent" repair of one door window motor.
