Complaint Review: Manhattan Beach Ventures LLC

I was contacted by Equitable Acceptance how is working with Manhattan Beach Venture saying that they could consolidate my student loan because according to there records I was eligable for consolidation with the Dept of Ed. They signed me up and started taking there payments from my checking account. After the first payment was made I was contacted by a representive from Equitable Acceptance that my loan could not be consolidated but because I signed a contract with them I still owed them money. I called Manhattan Beach Venture and was told that because they could not consolidate the loan they were in the process of cancelling my contract with them.

I then proceeded to call them every week to make sure that they were cancelling my contract but no one would return my phone calls. At one point a Ms Nina Childs did answer my call and told me they would expedite my cancellation. Two monthes have gone by and had heard nothing from them so I thought everthing was taken care of. I went into my local bank to apply for a personal loan and was denied because Manhattan Beach Ventures had sent my account to a collection agency for non payment.

I called them again to ask what happenend and was told that only Nina Childs could help me and they do not know when she will call me back. I called the Dept of ED to find out if they were working with any of these companies and was told that they have had quiete a few complaints about these companies ripping people off. Now as it stands I'm being told to get a lawyer which I can not afford to do. I spent years trying to clean up my credit and the student loan was the last bad thing on my credit report the bank loan was so that I could pay off the final amount of 5800.00 so I could go back to school and get a better job. I'm very upset and have no idea on what I should do or can do!!!!!
