I moved into one of their annual rental properties. The property had existing damages from a former tenant's pets so I was allowed to move into the property with two dogs. When I moved into the house the back screen doors were broken. Fixtures were missing. Faucets were broken. The sprinkler system was completely broken and never worked, closet doors and blinds were detached and or missing. I made notes of all of the damages upon moving into the property and I was told by the company that the owner of the house did not want to invest any more money into the house so they did come down on the rent a bit. When it came time to move out of the house I had a walk through with the owner of the house, Richard Bergholz and a representative from Mari Vesci. At the time of the walk through, I was told by the owner and the representative from Mari Vesci that everything was fine with the home. The representative from the company left to go "eat dinner" and left me alone with the owner. As soon as the representative of Mari Vesci, Lisha left Mr. Bergholz told me that he thought I should pay him for the back yard. I told him immediately that I was not going to pay him as the yard was in the same condition as it was when I moved in. As Mari Vesci told me when I rented the property that I was allowed to bring my dogs into the property because the former tenants had "two black labs" that had already harmed the back yard and back screen doors. I also explained to Mr. Bergholz that Mari Vesci informed me that Mr. Bergholz did not want to invest any money to fix the sprinkler system for the home so the yard could not be properly watered. Mr. Bergholz did not dispute this claim. I immediately contacted Mari Vesci and told them about Mr. Bergholz' claim and I was told by Mari Vesci that those claims were totally false, they knew about the condition of the home and barring a possible $175.00 cleaning fee, my deposit of $1500.00 would be returned. I moved out of state and gave Mari Vesci my fathers address as a forwarding address as I did not have my out of state address yet. After the fifteen day period after my move out I contacted Mari Vesci to ask about my deposit as I had yet to receive it. I was first told by the rental property manager, Sharon, that I only had a five hundred dollar deposit with them. After I told her I was looking at a copy of my lease, she then "remembered" that indeed I did have a fifteen hundred dollar deposit with them. She told me she would call be back, she did not. I called her back and asked if the owner intended to impose a claim on my deposit, then she said he did and it was in the range of about $2400.00. A far cry from the $175.00 claim I was told about at the time of my walk through. I asked her where was this claim in writing, as I had yet to receive anything in writing. Sharon told me she would call the post office and call me back. Sharon never called me back. I sent a certified letter to Mari Vesci asking where my deposit was. After Mari Vesci received my certified letter they sent me an email detailing almost all of the things I originally told them was wrong with the property when I moved in! I am a single working woman with not a lot of money to hire an attorney. I severely need this money to survive! More than recovering this money I would like to reveal these liars and cheats for what they are and expose them before the take advantage of anyone else!

Jesscia does not have her report entirely correct. I ,Sharon, did speak with her several times regarding the condition of the property when she departed and the possible return of her money. Mr Bergholz did report that many things were wrong with the house upon Jessica's departure, even sent us an estimate fro a contractor on what it would cost to repair all the damages. Although Jessica states that Mari Vesci employees knew the condition of the property when she moved in, she could provide no proof. There are no employees here at Mari Vesci that were here when she moved in to collabertae her story and I asked her for proof of the condition of said property. She told me several times that she had pictures and proof. I never recieved anything from her. If I had the proof she spoke of, I would have had a better chance of returning some of her money.

Everyone knows that when you move into a rental property you should document everything wrong with a written report and pictures. If she could supply any of this we would have been more than happy to go to bat for her against the owner.
We only have her word against he owners. We try our best to help out all of our tenants and owners, but can only do so much if they are not willing to cooperate with us.

We did send Jessica a notice to impose on her security deposit within the time period allowed by Florida Statue.

Once Jessica left town I did not speak with her again regarding this matter. The last time we spoke she threatened me with an attorney so I felt I should not communicate with her after that point, in case it went any further.
I am hoping that this will help in clearing our name as we did all we could under the circumstances.
Thank you.
