On September 9, 2004, I purchased what was supposed to be a purebread registered seal point (pet class) himalayan kitten from Maria Zantinge/Mabilus Cattery. This kitten was sold as being litter registered and vet checked. The "blue slip" for the registration was to be handed over once proof of neuturing (between 6-12 months) was submitted. I was not given a CFA litter registation number at the time of sale as I had no knowledge it was required - I only have a signed contract saying the kitten was litter registered.

The cat was nuetured at exactly 6 months of age (January 6, 2005) as was agreed to in the signed contract. At that time it was also discovered that the cat had a cryporchid (undecended) t******e, making the surgery much more extensive/expensive (requiring 14 abdominal stitches). At that time I did not persue the cryporchid issue and immediately submitted (by mail)the neutering reciept to obtain the "blue slip".

On January 20. 2005, I phoned Maria Zantinge to inquire about my not recieving the blue slip to date. I was told at this point that she had not recieved my letter (reciept for neutering). On confirming her mailing address it was discovered that I did not have the PO number on the address which was required for her mail delivery. (This PO number had not been supplied with any of the documentation she had supplied me with when the cat was originally purchased).

During the converstion with Maria Zantinge she disclosed that she had yet to register the litter so there would be about a 4 week delay in my obtaining the blue slip. I expressed I was disappointed as the kitten was sold as being already litter registered. (This seemed to be a selling point when purchasing the kitten as I had informed her that I was looking at another himalayan kitten that was not registered.) I asked her to please have the litter registered right away and I would be sending her another copy of the "neutering reciept" immediately (using the PO number on the address). "Registered Himalayan Kittens" are still intermittently being advertised for sale in the Kitchener-Waterloo Record by this woman/cattery.

When mentioning to Mrs. Zantinge about the undecended t******e, she stated that when kittens where small the testicles sometimes move up and down so this is what probably happened and the reason the vet had not noticed it. It was then I described how far up in the abdomen the t******e was found and that what she was suggesting wasn't likely.

It has now been over 5 weeks since the last time I was able to contact Mrs. Zantinge and to date I have not recieved the blue slip to complete the final registration for my cat. I know she recieved the copy of the neutering reciept as I sent it registered mail and have a copy of the delivery confirmation. I had also stated in the last letter to Mrs. Zantinge that if there where to be any further delays I would appretiate her letting me know ASAP.

Although issue resolved with Marbilus Cattery - New problem is conected (with Pedigree Cat Breeders Society. Org.)

Sun, March 27, 2005

Almost immediately after posting my original complaint on this board I recieved an email from Pedigree Cat Breeder's Society. Org. stating that "I think you filed the wrong form do you want to make a complaint? if so please redo it by doing here: http://www.pedigree-cbs.org/fcomplaint.html". I actually recieved two emails regarding this. Thinking it may be of some help I did so. (My email was obviously obtained through here - which I realize I had agreed to.)

I then recieved several emails requesting much more detailed information... I oblidged - only with the understanding (agreed upon) that nothing would be posted until a specific date - and only if the issue was not resolved. To my knowlegde the person emailing me was Rosemarie Zizzo who stated she was going to write Maria Zantinge inquiring about my cats registration papers and informing her that if the blue was not recieved by me by March 7, 2005 she would be listed on her site.

I also recieved emails from Pedigree Cat Breeders Society. Org. asking for "feedback" and requesting me to join the org. before I had any idea of the outcome. I am sorry to say I did supply some feedback which I sincerely wish Ms. Zizzo would let me retract as due to the circumstances,I no longer feel there is any truth in.

Rosemarie Zizzo's letter to the breeder was apparently in the mail February 28, 2005. I spoke to Maria Zantinge the next day and she informed me the blue slip was already in the mail. I recieved it by the end of the week and notified Ms. Zizzo immediatey after my phone call with Maria Zantinge (as well as when I recieved the blue slip saying that there was no need to take this further).

Ms. Zizzo seemed to insist that my recieving the blue slip was a direct result of her letter.(I found this unlikely as Ms. Zizzo's letter was being mailed to Canada and time wouldn't have permitted Maria Zantinge to recieve it - then mail the blue slip to me - and have me recieve it within five days.) Everything had been settled between the breeder and myself - I was quite happy.

On March 10, 2005, I was contacted by the breeder - as she had just recieved the letter from Ms. Zizzo (giving her the deadline of March 7, 2005 - three days too late). I told her that nothing should have been posted as Ms. Zizzo was aware the issue was settled on the 4th. Ms. Zizzo did post...

Both the breeder and I requested that everything regaring the issue be removed from her site. Ms. Zizzo emailed me back saying it had been removed. The majority of it is still posted on her site to this date.

On Saturday March 26, 2005, I recieved another email from Pedigree Cat Breeders Society. Org. (even though I requested Ms. Zizzo no longer contact me) stating that she has a new policy. It stated "By posting this complaint, I attest this report is valid. I am giving Pedigree Cat Breeder's Society. Organization irrevocable rights to post it on this web site. I acknowledge that once I post my report, it will not be removed, even at my request. Of course, I can always update my report to reflect new developments by bringing it to my attention saying: "UPDATED" [which can include proof of update. Example: medical bills paid, registration papers given, etc] Further, I agree that by posting this complaint that the State of California has exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes arising out of this posting
To update your posting and make sure Marbilus gets credit for submitting the registration papers please email it so I can state on the page this has been resolved and visitors know she is not a bad cat breeder, the sooner the better. Thank you for your swift attention." This email was recieved only two days after I posted on this site saying that the issue I had with Marbilus Cattery was comepletey resolved.

I replied to Pedigree Cat Breeders Society. Org. stating that this new policy is coming into effect weeks after I asked her to remove the postings - so it does not apply. I again asked her to remove it and stated I did not wish any further emails from her. To date the postings have not been removed.

I am not sending any updates to Pedigree Cat Breeders Society as I am afraid of what now may be posted - and as it states in the "new policy" - nothing will be removed.

Everything has been settled - I am happy with the result. I am not at all happy with the "help" of Ms. Zizzo (Pedigree Cat Breeders Society. Org [p_cbsorg@yahoo.com].

Marbilus Cattery (Maria Zantinge) issue completely resolved!

#3Author of original report

Thu, March 24, 2005

The issue I had with Marbilus Cattery and Maria Zantinge (breeder) is now completely resolved. I have now recieved the blue slip (along with having the cat registered).

The issue was greatly due to my impatience. Perhaps the only fault of the cattery was a slight delay that could have been easily overlooked if I had not automatically assumed the worst and did a little more inquiring first... had I only waited a few days (or inquired) I would have found that Maria Zantinge was indeed following through with everything.

I owe Maria Zantinge (Marbilus Cattery) an apology and would like to acknowledge that I hold the cattery in high regard. I have a beautiful, healthy cat (with his papers)...
