Marianne Davis/Pedro Quezada Lottery Winner give-away. Internet
I received a letter from a Marianne Davis of Park Point University stating that I had been given a donation with an email address for me to respond to. I first researched the University and the name and found a website that looked like a legitimate University, and I found her name in the list of faculty members. I wrote her inquiring about her letter and was told that it was a legitimate notification letter and for me to respond to the email address in the notice. I did that and received a reply saying he was the Pedro Quezada that had won the New Jersey Lottery and randomly picked people from Google results saying he was going to help them and i was one of them. I researched him, and found pictures of him and the story on the news. What he said was true. Then with that I researched more with the information and found that it was a scam and different amounts were allegedly given to other people. A catch of course was to send information to a bank with a deposit to open an account. Once the deposit was made the money would then be transferred. Yeah right, like a bank knowing you had a few hundred thousand waiting for you to open an account would need a deposit first. Anyway with this news I felt I should report it.
As the research led me to the University, I doubt, if it is a real University, they are involved, so I notified them and sent them the emails. Meantime, I hope others are stupid enough to fall for this.
