We have had simler expirences with the Maricopa County Jail. Like all the other complaints filed here on Rip-off Report. With abuse, and lack of medical care. Its not a matter of guilt or innocense but of basic human rights.

My father-in-law is in very poor health. And is taking several life saving medications.

I asked for a few of his fellow mates to write me and tell me of my father-in-laws condition. Since he has alot of trouble writing do to having several strokes while at Maricopa County Jail.

This is a portion of a letter...
On neumorous occasions He would not receive all of his medications. In particular, many tmes he would not be givin his blood thinner any his water pills and cholerstol medications. This would continue for weeks. At the time Mr.... would complain to medical personel about the lack of his medications, the response he would get was: "Since these pills are NOT essential to your well being, its OK if you miss them for a While" I had heard this response myself many times.

The letter goes on... On three seperate occasions I have seen Mr... condition deteriorate because of lack of his medications to the point that he had to be taken to the hospital for further care. From my understanding he suffered several heart attacks and strokes. His medications would be changed and more medications would be added. Once back at the jail his medications would be rearranged again and advice of his treating physians in the hospital would NOT be followed.

He complained about this on neumorous occasions to medical personel and Jail Administration without any action being taken to help him. He has also filed several greivences.

This letter goes on for 2 more pages about medical abuse and lack of treatment.

My father-in-law is now in such a condition that he is unable to stand trial even if he was guilty.

I have received several letters of this magnatude from several elderly inmates that this is also happening to them.

And its not a matter of guilt or innocense These people are awaiting to go to trial.

They have not yet been convicted.

The way they are treated in Maricopa County your are worse than guilty.
