In May 2015 I hired Marine Transport Inc./Paul Netherland to move my 05' Azimut 50 from RI to Catawaba Island, Ohio. On June 1st the boat was picked up at the marina in RI. On day three of the transport I was informed by Mr. Netherland that the air bags on the trailer had deflated causing the boat to lower on the to rear tires of the trailer grinding thru the bottom paint, gel coat and several layers of fiberglass on both the port and starboard side. It took 4 additional days to repair the trailer and get the boat to my location. Apon arriving a bill of laiding was signed by the driver admitting the damage. Both pictures and videos were taken of the damage for future reference.

My marina which has been family owned for 47 years discussed with Mr.Netherland estimate and repairs that needed to be done. I asked Paul for his insurance information and Mr Netherland said that his insurance deductable was $5,000.00 so he would cover the balance. When I asked again for his insurance information he refused to give me the name of company. When the repairs were complete I forwarded a copy of the bill to Paul for payment. At this point all emails, text messages and phone calls stopped. After six weeks of trying to contact Mr. Netherland on a daily basis I have decided to pursue this matter legally. I have done an indepth search of both Marine Transport Inc. and Mr. Thomas Paul Netherland. If you notice on his website he gives no company address, phone or fax. The only phone number listed is his personal cell phone number. The business is run out of his home. Marine Transport Inc is a Mississippi Corporation, doing business in West Palm Beach, FL. Here is what I know today.

1.) Thomas Paul Netherland is a convicted criminal.

2.) Paul Netherland has represented his company as having adequate commercial insurance which was false.

3.) Marine Transport has damaged three other vessels that I'm aware of and not covered the damages.

4.) The truck that delivered my boat had Energy Transportation decaled on the side (you can see this in the website pictures) but that Corporation doesnt exist today.

5.) On Marine Transports Facebook page some of the Escort Drivers have posted in the review section that they are not being paid.

6.) Marine Transport was fired from a large marine broker due to questionable business practices.

WARNING: DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS INDIVIDUAL OR COMPANY!

I have started the process to pursue this issue by any means nessary! If you have any additional information on this company or person please let us know.

Yes I did file a case in small claims court and won my case for the maximum allowed in Ohio. The judgement was for far less then the bill owed! Thomas Paul Netherland still owes me thousands of dollars! If you would like to find out more on Mr. Netherlands arrest record all you have to do is Google Thomas Paul Netherland Arrest record. He was booked in Palm Beach County on 10/12/2012 for Larc-Grand Theft for an amount less then $5,000.00. His Booking # is 2012042708. His mug shot is available for all to see!

I have also been contacted by several escort companies that were hired by Mr. Netherland and never paid along with potential customers. I will continue to send documentation and discuss with potential customers my story since Mr. Netherland and his mother Becky didnt want to do the right thing from the start and pay the repair bill. It cost me thousands and now I have and will continue to cost him tens of thousands of dollars! People and businsess need to be held accountable for unethical and poor business practices!

Claim Settled

This claim was settled in small claims court. Judgement was paid in full and received by court. Check to plaintiff cleared bank on 2/23/16. Plaintiff went back to small claims court to file damage of additional $1,500.00. This claim was denied per the small claims laws of that state.

Also, there are a lot of businesses run out of homes and there is not a law to prohibit this.

This person was allowed to say Thomas Paul Netherland is a convicted criminal. This is not true and we are shocked that your company would allow a statement like this to be published on your web site. This is slander. Does anyone from your legal team verify truth to statements before publishing?

Also, this person was allowed to say there was damaged done on other vessels not owed by this person.

How can we be assured this will be removed from your site?
