I posted an ad for my dog in Petfinder's Adoptable Pets classified section. Only a few hours later, I received an email from a woman calling herself "Maritza Tara Bibby" and saying she and her husband, Robert Bibby, areinterested in adopting my pet. She wrote aboutbeing from Nebraska, being deaf herself, having two children - one of whom is having a birthday next week and that they want to get their daughter a dog for her birthday.

Her first email to me came almost immediately after my ad posted. She was very aggressive and offered to pay not only my fee, but also any other amount to help compensate me for the upbringing of the pet so far. She also requested specific pieces of personal information from me in her second email to me.She claimed to have a 9-year old and wanted the dog as a pet for her child. Her grammar was very unusual - almost as though English was her second language.

After a few emails back and forth where she repeatedly requested my address and full name, I requested that she give me a call (or have her husband call) and have not heard back since then. I googled her full name - "Maritza T. Bibby" and her husband's name "Robert Bibby" this morning - and saw several others have posted fraud and scam warnings about them. I don't know what the objective of these people happens to be, but this is highly alarming and disturbing that she was so aggressive about trying to adopt my dog. I strongly suggest if you've had interaction with these people, you contact law enforcement or FBI.
