I'm trying to track down Mark Bradshaw, owner of Echo Next, a software development firm based in Los Angeles. He is also associated with Multiwave Inc.

After he contacted me in reply to a Craigslist ad I ran looking for an app developer, I wired him $2,500 as a deposit for software development. This was after several conversations in which he presented himself as responsive, communicative and trustworthy. After I wired him the money, of course, his update emails became increasingly infrequent, until he stopped contacting me altogether and stopped answering my calls and emails demanding a refund.

I know, caveat emptor. I'm now compelled to pursue legal action against him, but I wanted to warn anyone else out there whom he may have contacted regarding software development work.

Here's his pitch email in its entirety, which includes contact information and other relevant details. Beware.

Hello!
I'm a freelance full-stack developer and graphic designer specializing in building clean, high-end websites, mobile applications, and online marketing campaigns.

Check out my website at EchoNext.com.

Notice how re-sizing the browser window automatically modifies the content on the page to optimize itself for different screen sizes. As much as half of internet users are now on a mobile device, so this is very important to incorporate.

As a freelancer, I'm available to work directly with you without the hassle of dealing with middlemen. My skill set includes advanced competency with Ruby on Rails, PHP/MySQL, HTML5/CSS3, JavaScript, WordPress, Objective-C for iOS, Java for Android, API integration, UX/UI design, graphic design, and search engine optimization.

I have a degree in Computer Science from UC Berkeley, ten years of working experience, and my past clients include 21st Century Insurance, ADT Security Systems, University of Phoenix, and many small to mid-size companies.

For the sake of giving you a general idea of my pricing, I normally work with budgets ranging from $2-3 thousand for simple websites, to $15-20 thousand for complex and highly-scalable applications capable of handling millions of simultaneous users. Tons of variables influence the price, such as the functionality required, the type of technology used, the degree of usability testing conducted, the number of design concepts created, and generally the amount of time required to build your software.

If you're interested in working on a project, just get in touch with me and we'll take it from there :)

Thanks for your consideration!

Hello,

Thank you for posting your experience with "Mark Bradshaw." We were recently victimized by the same scammer, but he is now using a different alias.

The good news is that we know his real name (it isn't Mark Bradshaw) and are preparing litigation against him. If you would like to discuss the situation further, I would love the opportunity to connect and compare notes. Hopefully, I will be able to provide you with some information to you that may lead to recovery of your damages. You can contact me at brad@hfminvestments.com

I'm also reaching out to this victim, who I'm confident is a victim of the same scam as well:
