Mark Ladd

Mark Ladd called out my company in November 2014 specifically requesting "a highly qualified electrician" according to him after reading our website stated: "you're exactly what I'm looking for!"  We were contacted to troubleshoot electrical issues on a newly constructed addition affixed to the back of the home on a pre-existing patio slab foundation.  Service call was to troubleshoot new installed wiring, new construction.

Mark stated upon arrival "you are the 3rd electrician here!" as he was getting more frustrated during the duration of our service call.

My electrician noted many improperly installed NEC wiring infractions (national electrical code) and in need of re-routing, or rewiring. One example the indoor and outdoor lighting circuits were in series together, which means both indoor and outdoor lighting have been tied to the same switch and will be on at the same time.  Amateur hour...!  We isolated the indoor and outdoor circuits during the initial service call..

The previous electrician must have been angry or upset in my opinion, judging by the way things were left...   For instance, The "electrician" (emphasis on quotations) installed a 12-2 with ground, type NM-B non-metallic sheathed cable (romex).  The wiring was installed into the outlet boxes in most, but not all of the outlet boxes.  The wiring from the main panel was disconnected in the attic.  No live wires were located in the addition with all circuit breakers in the ON position.

Out of three circuits, only two circuits were located as "live" in the new addition.  In some of the outlet boxes the wiring was too short, either cut or not pulled through properly... my guess now is they were cut that way on purpose.

The 3 way switch circuit was installed with a 12-2 with ground, type NM-B.  My technician informed Mark Ladd the wiring was incorrect; 12-3 or 14-3 with ground, type NM-B should have been installed; it should have been cited by the "electrician" performing the inspection prior to drywall installation.  Mark Ladd asked my technician to make the bare copper grounding connector "hot" as to what's called a hot "traveler" in a 3-way switch circuit. We refused from a safety standpoint, a liability standpoint, legal NEC code standpoint and ethical standpoint.  stating its a liability, a fire hazard, and electrical code violation.  By this time Mark Ladd was visibly indignant and stated " I will not remove any drywall!"/  None of this was our workmanship or wrongdoing so it's unclear why the hostility toward my technician.

We mailed Mark an invoice for the work performed on the service call.  He stated he would mail us a check.  We billed Mark Ladd for only two hours a total of $130.00, though we were there closer to 3 hours.  Mark asked us to return Saturday after brainstorming other possible solutions without removing what the other contractors screwed up.  On Nov 6th we called to confirm the appointment which Mark Ladd said he was going to have the drywall removed and call us.

Not a penny has been paid to date by Mark Ladd for our 2 hour service call, repair and inspection.  I can speculate why the other guys didn't return or finish the job....

JOHN ALAN REJNIAK - office electrician, not field electrician

John doesn't use his real name and his son is the one that chooses to bash people on the internet rather than own up to his dad John REJNIAK wasting customers time and not fix anything in the end and then ask to come and take another crack at it. BRIAN REJNIAK of OC Pool and spa, please hear both sides before bashing people on the internet. Your dad is not a field tech, he is an office or lab jockey. Theories and inventions, not ladders and finishing jobs that require moving around and squatting a lot. How many times do you think it would have taken to resolve the issue between lectures and bashing the last electrician and alien theories. The next electrician fixed within one hour, was fully licenced, had an assistant to help and got paid to fix and leave. John alan REJNIAK took three hours and didn't fix anything, needed my help for most of the troubleshooting and wanted to come back for more time wasting while charging hourly. If anyone is reading this besides the father son team, please hire someone else and get it done in half the time for probably less. It's not worth the hastle of multiple visits, long service call and feeling like you should be assisting John to prevent him from getting hurt at your home. John, if you are semi retired, hire an assistant to do the grunt work so jobs don't end up like this horrible experience I had with Coronaelectricalservice.com Norcoselectricalservice.com Orange county electrical service Sorry John, but if you are gonna splash my name all over this complaint towards me, you should have identified your company name, your real name and the truth that you didn't identify anything I didn't already know and tell you from minute one. This was a service call, not an echo after three hours. The next qualified electrician for this job took one hour, charged 89 dollars, I spent 5 minutes explaining what needed to be done and he was out. You took three hours, didn't fix anything and wanted to come back for more. Sorry, but that is not how you run a business...

John Alan is a bad electrician and business

#3REBUTTAL Individual responds

So first of all, John is not a bad person and i dont hold any ill will against him, but he should not be doing the kind of work he's doing at his advanced age. I called John because I was trying to find a good electrician to troubleshoot some wiring someone else did not finish. I hired a licencend general contractor to build an addition and they were let go because they were asking for advances on materials and were three months behind on the job. I finally cut the cord. I am not unreasonable and not stupid to keep losing this way.

I called John Alan of www.coronaelectricalservice.com to see if he could finish the electrical portion. He also goes by Orange County Electrical Service.

When John showed up he was a lot older than I though an electrician for this job should be. He also showed up alone when I clearly told him it was a troubleshooting/repair job. He had trouble walking and made several trips back and forth to his truck to bring bags of tools and a ladder. I was concerned because I knew there would be ladder climbing and the first step up the ladder seemed like an eternity. I held the ladder for John.

The compaint says this is a company and implies thre are technicians. This is a one man show. Only John Alan and his son helps him with his compaints, collections and threatening lawsuits. John never gave me an invoice when he left. He never told me there was a charge when i asked him "how much do i owe you?". His job was incomplete and insufficicient. I never signed anything before or after and I have no clue what he would have wrote if he did.

Over the phone and in person, I told him the issue and needed the wires traced and fixed. I initially told him over the phone and asked specifically if he was qualified and could do this type of work. He said he was. John as it truns out is retired and said he does not take large jobs since he is not authorized to. I think it has something to do with not having a contractors license at the time. Since then he has gotten one, and good for him, but you can see from his bond history, he only reissued his C10 lic in May of 2015. He was basically operating without a valid license when I looked him up at the time and he came to my home.

The panel was not installed for the upgrade yet so there was tracing that needed to be done to find the correct wires for the switches without power. Nothing on the build was done maliciciously and John (or his son that wrote this up) makes up a lot of facts on his own in his complaint of me. I told John over the phone and in person that I needed to have the wires traced and the switches working as intended. I thought that maybe a wire for a switch was not connected and to find it. I wanted to avoid cutting into the the drywall as anyone would be but I also told him if thats what it takes, just say the word and I will cut into it. Nothing angry sounding on my end, just disappointment if anything since this job was over time and over budget.

As for the lighting swtich, John is the one that recommended it. I had no idea about that set up, thats why I called him. He said that he would show me how and walk me through it if I wanted to do it but he would not do it himself. He said that it was code back in the day and now it wasnt but he never had issues back then and didnt forsee it now. But he was the one who recommended it and told me that was his preferred option even though he would not accept respnsibility. I told him that that would be fine and lets do it. I think he sat around for at least an hour and talked about this fact. I am simply too nice of a person to tell an older gentlemen to please stop talking so much and just do the work and lets get to our families. I am not that guy and let John just talk and talk and talk...He's retired and maybe he is lonely and bored and takes these jobs to hang out with people and stay busy.

Now lets get to how this job is going over. John spent three hours talking and explaining to me what electricity is and how it works and anything else that his mind took him. I did not hire him for a lesson. I hired him to troubleshoot and fix the issue. Since I was concerned of his safety climbing on an 8 ft ladder at my home, I held the ladder for him. He then wanted me to hold wires and tracing tools. Then he went on to explain every item he was doing. I was his assistant and apprentice the entire time. This was just wasting time. He was talking because this was the pace he worked at. At the three hour mark of being there, he did not achieve anything, other than point out what I told him from the beginning. I told him we needed to trace the wires and rewire the switches. At the end, he told me we needed to trace the wires and rewire the switches, but that he would now just show me and not do it himself. The same thing I told him, he told me. He then said that he doesnt have time now and he would have to come back. Three hours, nothing done. I imagined after he left what sort of nightmare that this would play out to be. If i wanted to do this myself completely and have someone show me, I would have requested that.

I was never upset and told him that we will set up a time later as I dont know if I have Saturday available. He simply assumed he could come back whenever he wanted to waste more of my time.

I ended up having a friend of mine recommend an electrician that came over two weeks later. Within ONE hour, the job was done. He came over with a helper and they banged it out. Everything works fine and was done professionally and quick.

For John and his son to expect to be paid for three hours of doing nothing and recommend non code work and tell me "i wont do it but i will show you how" and then say he is licenced for 25 years and it turns out he was not for 15 of that time, is dishonest and decieptful.

John Alan and his son are ridiculous in their accustations and even the complaint is as long winded as some of John's "Lessons". I was just looking for someone to do their Job like a PRO. John Alan is not that guy in my opinion.
