Complaint Review: Markham Securities Inc.

I received a "WINNINGS FINAL NOTIFICATION" form with a check for $4993.00 in the mail from Markham Securities Inc., International Claims Department, 140 Markham, ONT, M3B 1K2. On the form I was instructed to call 1-905-781-4557 which is supposedly the number of their "North American Claims Affiliate" in Calabasas, California. Canada is in North America but someone missed their Geography lesson that day.
The check was drawn on City National Bank in Beverly Hills, CA so I called them but they were closed. I then did a web search on Markham Securities and lo and behold there is a reference to this scam website. Hmmm, these folks got the same check and letter I did. Surely we must be the twenty "lucky winners" mentioned in the letter!
