Earlier in the month of January our central heat went out in our house. we called a Sherman Company to come fix it that we have used many times before. they came and repaired it and told us that it was in bad shape up there and we should start thinking about getting the unit replaced as it was 20+ years old and original to the home. (this same company checked everything out when we moved in in the summer of 2009 and told us everything looked great) so no big deal they fixed it. then on Thursday February the 3rd, our heat went out for a second time filling the house with a smokey electrical fire smell. i called the fire department and they checked it out and traced it down to what they had replaced in January. (odd) So the next day we called and hired them to replace the central heat in the attic. they came the following monday and worked all day and i returned that evening and the yard was full of ciggarette butts as well as plastic debree from their work that day. i thought that was a little off for a professional bussiness for not picking up after themselves. They told us everything was great and that they were done. then all of a sudden later in the week they called and informed us that they needed to come back and install some drain pans that they didnt on monday for some reason and that it would only take a few minutes. they showed up a little after 8am on friday morning and were still here around 10:30am which i thought was a little odd. Saturday morning i get up and decide to wash my truck. so i go to the gallon pickle jar that sits on a high shelf next to my bed to get quarters out for the car wash. to my surprise almost all of the change was gone. i put a handful of change in this container almost daily and no one had been in the house in weeks except amanda and i and this heat and air company. (the money was there days before) Then i look around the house and check other valubles to make sure that nothing else had been messed with. I went to my two year old Daughters bedroom and checked her big porcelin piggy bank that we put money in for her and also contains all the cash she has ever gotten for birthdays and xmas. To my surprise the piggy bank was totally empty. About 200 Dollars missing that was there just days earlier. My heart sank and i called my mother who had hired the company and she called the owner and he quickly avoided the situation and didnt show any concern for the situation and pretty much hung up the phone without listening to any thing we had to say. which leaves me to believe this was not the first time something like this had happened. (keep in mind we just spent around 1600 dollars for this heating unit) you would think they would be interested in apreciating their cutomers. I then posted this similar story on Facebook after their disreguard of the situiation and the owner quickly commented on my post and informed me that if i did not remove this he would come after us for slander or libel. still not showing any concern and trying to hold this over my head to keep my mouth shut.

If a contractor is working on your property, then it is YOUR responsibility to have someone there to monitor their activities.  Secondly, I have used this company for years without any problems.  Thirdly, did you ask the owner if his employees are bonded and insured?  Sounds like you didn't.  This sounds like a classic case of someone pointing the finger without gathering all the facts.  I also find it odd that there are not other complaints about this company--anywhere--on any website or at the Better Business Bureau even though they have been in business for many years.  And lastly, if you do not want your "piggy bank" money to disappear, then perhaps it is wise to not leave it sitting out where anyone who walks in can see it.  That's just basic common sense.

I've used John Markl and his company for numerous jobs over the past few years, including the installation of a complete new HVAC system last year.

They are honest, ethical and they do what they say they'll do.

I'm in Law Enforcement and I've never heard of anything negative about Markl's company

When the customer called to accuse our employees of theft, they were asked if the police had been contacted. Customer stated that they had not. We suggested that they contact the police immediately and file a report.

As of Monday, there was no record at the police department of any complaint being filed.

Something here doesn't add up. If you honestly believe that you've been burglarized or otherwise victimized by theft....and you are certain as to who did it, why would you not contact the authorities?  Sounds like a shake-down to us.
