Complaint Review: Marlin Integrated Captial

We've been trying to buy a new house. Of course they pulled our credit, and we seen things that we had no clue what they are. There is two accounts on my husband's credit from Marlin Integrated. The original creditor is Verizon. Neither my husband nor myself have ever done business with Verizon in any shape, fashion, form. But part of our home loan is a debt payoff so we were told to contact all the creditors, get settlement letters, then we could proceed with the loan.

Sounds easy right? NOT! I had a few problems with other creditors but nothing like I've encountered with Marlin. First of all I've yet to speak to someone there that speaks proper English. And anytime I explained (a million times now) what we need for the attorney all they keep talking about it us doing a check by phone right then. They even went so far as to ask for the name of the mortgage company and get a check by phone from them.

I called the corporate office, asked for supervisors, and I always get transferred back to the same group of idiots! My husband got someone there to promise to fax a settlement letter for the full amount. After that we got no letter and numerous harrasing calls everyday saying the same thing. "Do a check by phone or get sued." At that point I started doing some homework.

They called again recently and my husband explained to them that the statute of limitations in NC is up so the only thing they can do is leave it on our credit until 03/04 when the 7 year SOL runs out according to the FCRA. Again he was promised another settlement letter, and again we've gotten nothing but harrassing phone calls.

Yesterday I mailed out a debt validation letter to them via certified mail and it has been disputed with the CRA's. This isn't my husbands account, and even if we have to wait unitl March to get in our house it will be worth it just to give these people some of the grief we've gotten.
